Urban Meyer Statement
Florida Gators coach Urban Meyer says Notre Dame Fighting Irish not in his plans - ESPN
For what it's worth. He said he would stay at Florida as long as they would have him but did not specifically deny interest in Notre Dame. Sounds like an increase in pay/benefits will be coming his way.

Re: Urban Meyer Statement
Classic non denial denial... Tells me he is listening if they are talking.
He's not going to say he is interested when his team is in a championship hunt.

Re: Urban Meyer Statement
I don't buy it. If ND wants him and is smart, they will wait until the season is completely over to approach him. They can afford to miss a half of class and it is likely they won't miss that much because there will be a certain number of guys that follow him. They need to wait to approach him. Do not make him make a quick denial.

I agree with the non denial denail. Also agree with the post that said ND probably is waiting to actually talk until the correct time. If they really want a top-tier coach they will take the correct path.

Re: Urban Meyer Statement
I think if he was going to go, last time they came to him with the job would have been the best opportunity to do it.
I think you're going to see Meyer at Florida for a very long time.

Re: Urban Meyer Statement
Let me see...
Notre Dame = Notre Dame
Florida = Nice Weather, Decent budget, Decent Pay check. Academic Standards , Great Recruiting Base, Rabid Fans.
Maybe he'll go to Notre Dame, but lot of chips in Florida's favor.

If ND has made the decision to axe Weis and has just not announced it I can assure you that they are already talking. Now, they are not talking with the coaches...they are talking with the coaches' agents. All of these top coaches have agents today and a lot of discussions occur between schools and agents which then gives the coaches the deniability to say "I have not talked to "X" school".
ND waited too long last time and missed out on Meyer...they will not make the same mistake twice.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -

He's not going to say he is interested when his team is in a championship hunt. Absolutely. I love transparent coach-speak. "There is no interest" That means they haven't talked to him yet to tell him they are interested in talking to him.

Re: Urban Meyer Statement
He's gone. He wants a new challenge and bringing back national titles to ND would be just that.
Clone to the Bone with the up and coming IOWA STATE. -
Re: Urban Meyer Statement
He's history. Too fast and hard on the denial. He has been caught. Kiss him good bye. Cy Bookie?
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: Urban Meyer Statement
Looks like he is #1 on ND's list and he will be coaching there after this season. I guarantee that his agent is in direct contact with "the powers that be" at ND.

Re: Urban Meyer Statement
I'm sure he wanted to stay at Utah as long as they would have him as well.

Re: Urban Meyer Statement
Vince Naimoli, one of the biggest Notre Dame boosters there is, doesn't live too far from Gainesville. Might make the move from Gainesville to South Bend easier than the move from Utah to South Bend.

Re: Urban Meyer Statement
It's been well documented that Meyer historically has had an interest in ND. I'm with everyone else on this one. Urban will be stirring up the echoes this fall. He's written clauses into previous contracts about being allowed to break them if ND comes calling, plus Notre Dame prefers him to other candidates, and it isn't even close. If there's one guy who you could almost GUARANTEE would bring them back to glory, it's Meyer, and they will stop at nothing (from a financial aspect) to get him there. We could be looking at the largest coaching contract in football. Not college football, all of football.
