What in the world are you talking about?!? Weis had never been a head coach that won a championship...he had only been the OC for the Pats.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Which is fact. As is paying whatever it takes not working for them last time.

Except that they didn't pay what it took to get their man last time, which was Urban Meyer. They lowballed him thinking that he'd take it simply because it was ND. Meyer got a better offer from UF and the rest is history.

If they want Meyer or Stoops as their guy this time, they need to back up a Brinks truck in their driveway and start unloading.

I agree. I think they will go after someone who has won a national championship. Meyer would be number one with his history at ND and his big splash appeal.
Stoops would probably be number two. If they do take Stoops I would expect Gary Patterson to be on top of the list for OU with his souther recuiting connections and recent success. That would suck for the rest of the Big 12 in my opinion.

For some reason I don't see them taking an NFL guy. It didn't work for them the last time. I think they want a big time college coach that they know can win and handle the college game. There is no chance they take a coordinator either in my opinion.

Tony Dungy not interested. ND not interestd in Brian Kelly. Gary Patterson to stay at TCU. If Stoops and Meyer both say no, KF may be the next best candidate. He would be a great fit. I'm staying cautiously optimistic that he is both a viable candidate and that he would accept an offer.

I'm waiting for the movie to come out about Mac's head coach interview experiences - the title has to be 27 suits.

If the stuff about ND having no interest in Kelly is accurate, this ND calling KF could come to fruition. Completely plausible that both Meyer and Stoops say no to ND.

What would be funny though, is if KF said no to them as well. You'd be looking at a situation a bit similar to what Nebraska went through when they handed the thing to Callahan. The difference being though, Nebraska canned a coach that was actually doing better than .500.

But, having a public "no thanks" after "no thanks" returned to the Irish, while I'm not an Irish hater, would be quite amusing.

Can you imagine? Although if Chizik was considered a miracle worker by Auburn for his 5-19 career record at ISU (.208 winning percentage) Dan McCarney might be considered the Messiah for his 56-85 career record (.397 winning percentage). Actually a huge Dan McCarney fan. Let's just hope he doesn't end up at KU.

I am not sure he would ever take the KU job with his loyalty to Iowa State.

That said, can you imagine the spin Notre Dame would put on the hire? Guarantee it would be more about being the winningest coach in ISU history and nothing about his overall recrod.

Huge McCarney fan, and would love to see him get another head coaching gig, but Notre Dame hiring him would be more shocking than Chizik going to Auburn.

Ferentz certainly fits the mold of "defensive resume".
