    Leavitt out at South Florida

South Florida Bulls fire coach Jim Leavitt, source says - ESPN

all I can say is WOW. This after the player in question came out said that it was a misunderstanding. (South Florida player alleged to have been struck by coach says reports are untrue - ESPN)

There's gotta be more to the story and i'm sure what happened at KU and TT probably played a role in the decision.

Leavitt built South Florida from the ground up and is a helluva coach.

I imagine they are numerous coaches out there right now (not just in football) hoping some of their past dealing don't come to light.

While Leavitt did a very good job at USF...there will be plenty of coaches fighting for that job!

He was always thought to be a strange guy...but this does not seem right.

WOW. Stunning move. I can't think of a coach I have more respect for (from a coaching standpoint) than Leavitt. He took them from literally nothing to a solid program.

$10 says Mike Leach is the next coach at USF.

EDIT: Mac and Tuberville were on their list according to the article. Here's a very real possibility. ISU v. USF in the 2010 Yankee Bowl. Don't tell me THAT wouldn't be interesting.

Wow, what is going on! So TT, KU and SF think they can fire the coaches that put them on the map and everything is going to be sunshine and lollipops? In all these instances it seems the evidence is not all that strong against these coaches.

It was more than a good job it was remarkable, to have to recruit against Miami, Florida and Florida State and still have that team be competitive was amazing. A bad mistake to let him go (IMO)

Yea I think this has become a pretty nice job the last few years. The Big East is ripe for the picking with Cincy losing a lot and WV seemingly a bit down. There are a lot of reasons this is a great job. They are in a prime locale for recruiting, USF is a huge school, weak BCS conference and they have a pretty nice looking QB who will only be a soph next year.

If I was Mike Leach, I'd be lobbying for this job. He would roll down there.

I don't disagree with anything you are saying. I just think this is a job that will attract a lot of attention...a lot more than KU or TT.

Yea unfortunately you're right, too bad I just want Leach out of the big 12. I really hope the rumors he'l head to Colorado don't become a reality.
