I would be shocked if Spurrier when there, the fan base hated him with a passion when he was with Florida, it would be the equivilent of Hayden coming to coach ISU. Have heard quiet rumblings of Petrino leaving here in Arkansas, but I don't think it will happen, although he has been coach for 2 years now...
wow, I haven't heard that one yet. I agree, don't see it happening but would get a huge chuckle if it actually went down.
Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.
Muschamp and Gruden aren't all that surprising, and I think a little pie in the sky.
Calhoun is a curious turn down.
Hadn't heard that Cutcliffe had turned them down. As of yesterday a few sites said he pretty much had the job. That one really is odd. Two stints there in the past?
Calhoun has found something at Air Force that is tough to explain. When you hear him talk, it seems to be more of 'a calling' than a job to him.
Having experience with the service academies, I think that I understand.
But having said that, enough $$$ have convinced many a person to go away from their calling!
Doesn't matter now that Dooley is in.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion - no matter how wrong they may be.
Reports out of KNOXVILLE is that Derek Dooley from La Tech has been hired.
IMO this is a reach, he's not a proven commodity and his overall record is 17-20 at LA Tech, he had one winning season and has no previous ties to Tenn unlike Chizik.....He's never even been an OC or DC, went from a positions coach to head coach at LA Tech and now ready to lead one of the premier programs in the nation....good luck, u better win!!!!

Yeah it has been neat to see the Wittinghams, and Pertersens and the like stay were they are at. Though Utah and Boise I think both pay pretty well and have now reached a solid national status themselves. Admittedly AF is still a step below I suppose.
Your last point is also true of course. That is why the teams that have proved they will pay 2 or 3 million dollars plus to get or keep a coach have such an advantage in college athletics now days. Heck many of these guys make more then NFL guys at many places.
There are some places that even pay their coordinators 1 mill or close to it.
