Tennessee Strugglin...THEYVE HIRED THEIR 5TH CHOICE!!!
Wow, now this is gettin ugly....
The HC job has been offered to and refused by:
Muschamp
Gruden
Calhoun
Cutcliffe
Next on the offers list: Derek Dooley of La Tech and Al Golden of Temple.....
There's supposed to be a surprise candidate out there that if true, would rival the hiring of Kiffin to SC....supposedly, this coach if approached would take it....
Now i have a guess on who this surprise coach would be: Steve Spurrier.....i think he would love to get out of South Carolina, he needs a better atmosphere to recruit to and South Carolina just isnt doing it....This would be a splash hiring and a huge upswing for the program.
One other name out there that i think would be a great fit: Tommy Bowden...he did a great job at clemson and got canned for it, in his tens years at Clemson he was 90-49, averaging 9 win season every year he was there and went to a bowl game every year except one year they declined....his last hire for O. coordinator sealed his doom, but from the HC position that program was run clean and his players graduated....He would be a great fit with SEC experience....

Re: Tennessee Strugglin....
Muschamp and Gruden aren't all that surprising, and I think a little pie in the sky.
Calhoun is a curious turn down.
Hadn't heard that Cutcliffe had turned them down. As of yesterday a few sites said he pretty much had the job. That one really is odd. Two stints there in the past?

Re: Tennessee Strugglin....
I would be shocked if Spurrier when there, the fan base hated him with a passion when he was with Florida, it would be the equivilent of Hayden coming to coach ISU. Have heard quiet rumblings of Petrino leaving here in Arkansas, but I don't think it will happen, although he has been coach for 2 years now...

Re: Tennessee Strugglin....
I just can't believe Cutcliffe was offered that job and turned it down. My guess is that he announced he is staying at Duke because he wasn't offered the job.
Also, Tennessee fans HATE Steve Spurrier with every ounce of their being, I don't think that'll be the choice.
I think the surprise candidate is : Phil Fulmer! -

SS would be a good hire for them. He is a good coach. I am worried however. I am worried because I have heard some rumblings of a Rich Rod hire. As a Michigan fan, this would suck something major. I have a bad feeling that if he were approached, he would listen. I think this because of the way he has been treated by not only the Detroit Freep but also the administration. They had two players, one of which is a 4-5 star #1 dual threat quarterback, who had everything in line to enroll early, and the admissions office would not let them in. Man I hope that doesn't happen. That would set them back another 2 years.
I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU
Or so I have read. -

Players graduating and running a clean program... that doesn't sound like a good fit for the SEC at all. -
Re: Tennessee Strugglin....
Yes, Dave McCarney is also available.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

Cutcliffe released a statement this morning - he is out....but then again, we've heard that before in the coaching world, maybe there wasnt enough zeros behind the number!!!! Similar to how Bama fans absolutely hated Nick Saban in 2003 when he led LSU to the national championship and beat down Bama in the LSU-Alabama rivalry 27-3.....Winning helps you forget a lot about someone being on the other side!!!! I can personally relate, i hated with a passion Charles Haley when he was with the 49ers, but, when he put on the star, i loved the guy!!!!!
But interesting info on Rich Rod, that would be a big blow!!!! Then the Ferentz to Michigan crap would start flyin!!!!! AGAIN!!!!!

I don't think leaving the big 12 south for the SEC East is going to help his cause of stockpiling Championships....it definitely won't be easier.....

SI was talking about Lovie Smith yesterday (SI.com NFL Truth & Rumors).
Everyone is entitled to their opinion - no matter how wrong they may be. -

Go take Gus from Chiz...not sure why it is taking so long

I think the surprise candidate is : Phil Fulmer! Cutcliffe is older and has had some medical problems...not sure he wants the pressure of a Tennessee type job.
Louisville fans used to hate Rick Pitino when he was at UK too.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.
