    Mock NBA Lottery

    http://espn.go.com/nba/lottery2010/mockdraft

They have Wesley Johnson as a top five pick. I didn't realize he turned in to such a highly respected player.

    Re: Mock NBA Lottery

I think Wes is looking even better than he is because the system he is playing in fits him so well, thus he has inflated numbers. This is not a knock on him, because he can flat out play.

What did Boeheim say last night, that WJ is among the top 5 athletes he has ever coached? Wow.

WJ's offensive skillset and rebounding will fit perfectly in the NBA.

Agree on both accounts. I wonder what would have happened if he would have got the medical redshirt here? I know MAC wanted it, be he refused, at least that is what I remember. Oh well, I still don't like him

    Re: Mock NBA Lottery

WJ is playing very well right now, no doubt.

But my prediction is that WJ struggles in the NBA, especially in his first few years. His man-man D is lousy, and that will be exploited immediately. Also, he usually only takes 1 dribble, and doesn't really penetrate like a top NBA 2-guard (not that WJ won't improve).

Also, ever noticed he's a flat-out lousy passer? He had 7 turnovers last night - NBA coaches won't give rookies much time who turn the ball over....

Yeah. WJ doesn't get caught up in that whole playing both ends of the court thing. I bet he would cherry pick if the coach would let him.

Whatever NBA GM takes him in the top 10 will regret it. Wesley will not be able to hide his **** poor defense at the next level.

He will be fine in the NBA, nobody plays defense in the NBA until the playoffs.

    Re: Mock NBA Lottery

I love the comments that Wesley Johnson can't play man to man defense! How do we know? He played on a bum foot his entire sophomore year and couldn't move laterally. My guess is that a guy as athletic as him (he is a freak) will be just fine on defense.

I watched him play last night and he has become a fantastic passer. Reads the defense, sees the holes and takes advantage. Add to the fact that he has really bulked up and I will be surprised if he isn't a fantastic pro.

I said his freshmen year at ISU that Wesley Johnson would be the best NBA player that has ever gone to Iowa State. I stick with that comment

    Re: Mock NBA Lottery

He'll struggle on defense his first few years like all players do then he will get it figured out. LeBron sucked on defense for a few years until he picked it up.

(I'm assuming those are our standard barers.)

I think so. I think he has a higher ceiling then both. Even in the NBA he will still be one of the best athletes on the court. That's how great his athletic skills are.

If he can learn how to drive the lane better he will be a superstar IMO
