I thought the NCAA was going to ban making fields any color but green... Red is wayy too much for the eye.

They did in Division 1....maybe D2 has different rules?

The NCAA has no provision addressing the color of playing surfaces -- at least not yet -- because it hasn't had to consider the issue outside of the relatively obscure venues at Boise State and Division II University of New Haven, which installed its own blue turf last year. If it goes through with it, then, EWU's lava motif will be breaking ground on what promises to be a run on multi-colored turf by publicity-starved schools across the country; eventually, somebody somewhere is going to go with black. (I'm looking at you, Idaho.)

Just imagine if we tried that. We'd have a number of people ******** about which shade of cardinal to use, and then there would be people ******** that it was the wrong shade. The hysteria!

Me too. Furthermore, if you are going to have artificial why wouldn't you do this?
It has to provide a competitive advantage through either camouflage or just the oddity of playing on something a different color. I know playing Boise on NCAA 2010 is a ***** because they are hard to see.

Dude we have won 3 bowl games in 120 years. I am not sure there ever was a shark. I beleive the death rattle happened around 1950. It's not like we are Texas and we are trying to outrecruit someone. It's obvious the team that did this is trying everything possible to pull in a fringe recruit. It's good stuff if you ask me.

The thought of doing this actually crossed my mind for ISU, then I thought now way anyone in their right mind would actually do red. Blue is obviously something different, but at least not all that different (color variation wise).

I also thought that if we did decide to do it the big debate would be what color of red to use. True red, cardinal, maroon?

Maybe we should do gold now that red is being used.

I'm not a fan of artificial turf, but if we had to convert from natural grass, I would absolutely be in favor of a color other than green. I like the blue field at boise and I love this red field.
