that's really funny, so long as it's not happening to your team. It reminds me of a situation a few years ago when Sebastian, the Miami mascot, got a personal fowl (get it?) for unsportsmanlike conduct after a Hurricane TD. I'm sure the coach was none too pleased about that either. Not sure that it cost them the game, though.

I got a T as a statistician once. I was relieved of said duties.
It really helped me, because I was getting no play with the ladies keeping stats.

Re: USC fires student manager after technical foul
I know it was pretty easy to get caught up in the moment as a football student-manager, especially when you were right behind coach carrying cord. I found myself on the field more than one yelling at officials right behind a coach, quickly realizing that I needed to shut up and pull back on the cord. They worked just like dog collars now that I think about it LOL. With everyone wearing wireless now, it's a different ball game I'm sure

Always got a kick out of watching those...no, you go under, then I go under, then you go over to that side, then he goes under-over-under....

After the game was even worse cuz we usually just wanted to get the hell out of Dodge (or Lincoln, or Boulder, or Iowa City) or wherever we had just got our pants kicked in

Re: USC fires student manager after technical foul
Does anyone remember a few years ago at the Big 12 tournament when ISU was playing Okie State and I think a player at the end of OSU's bench was whistled for a tech. foul? It was a tight game at that point, and ol' Eddie laid into 'em.
Then at the end of the game, as time was running out and ISU with a big lead, Fizer put up a three-pointer from way out and made it. I don't think he intended on making it - it just went in out of shear luck. Man did the OSU crowd boo that.

Both ISU and OSU were assessed bench technicals in that game, plus Fizer and Gottlieb both got dinged for jawing at each other.
The three-pointer was in the Baylor game the previous day. ISU was up by around 10 very later. The shot clock was going to expire with <10 seconds left in the game, so Fizer chucked up a three to beat the shot clock...and it went in. Pretty fitting end to a 38-point day.

All those games run together. Glad you have a better memory than I do.
I just remember Eddie laying into the last two players on OSU bench, and that it was a great Big 12 tournament for the Clones.
