We'd still fail since our guard play is what screwed us this year anyway... now, if it was evan turner or a vasquez that transferred out from ISU, then you we talk about how much better we would have been.

Let's just PRETEND we had all three:
W's vs. Northwestern, UNI, Texas, TT, Oklahoma, another one vs KSU since we only lost by 4, Ok St and aTm lost by combined 9 points, another vs Colorado, and the Mizzou OT game.
That's 10 losses. Let's say we win seven of them. 22-10 overall, 11-5 conference.
I know, wishful thinking!

How did you figure that out? Did you get in your hot tub time machine and convince WJ to stay, and then play out all the games? -

Yea, and I think one of the reasons he is/was so good at Syracuse, if not the main reason, is the fact that he sat out a year and really hit the weights. That payed dividends for him this year, and frankly had he continued to play at ISU, hate to say it, but he wouldn't have become the same player he is now.

Not to mention being under the tutelage of Jim Boeheim, only one of the best to coach the game, addressing the areas that WJ needed to improve in his game, and WJ listening to him because of the credibility he brings to the table...

I understand your JB argument but if you are a D-1 player and did the things WJ did as a freshman and sophomore here, if you cannot listen to and be coached up by your coach, no matter who, some of that is on you.

Good luck in the tourney Wes, can't blame you for leaving. Nobody wants to work hard and lose game after game.

Don't disagree at all, made the same arguments 2 years ago, and still believe he handled this absolutely the wrong way.
However, two years later, and him hardly being the last player defection, in retrospect, while I hardly absolve him of his decisions and how he went about leaving, I completely understand where he was coming from and realize I was probably too harsh in what I said. Like I said, he's hardly the last player to leave, and it's possible we may not have seen our last defection yet this offseason, which is pathetic.
To summarize, yeah, I still don't like the fact that WJ left. But considering what all has happened with MBB since he left, it's really hard for me to lay all of the blame on him anymore.

Re: Wes Johnson on Dan Patrick show now
Obviously Wes didn't leave because he couldn't be 'coached'. He went to play for Jim Boeheim. He is one of the best coaches around and is pretty demanding. He doesn't let WJ do whatever he wants. So to claim that he was some out of control player with a big ego is ridiculous. He was hurt his whole sophomore season and playing in a system that he didn't like, and that a lot of players must not like (see half our team leaving every year).

At some point I would have thought WJ would have asked himself where JB was when he was graduating high school. Hell I could find talent after they already played two years. I do not blame WJ for leaving at all, I am just saying that at some point a player has to be coachable to be coached. I have no idea what WJ was like as a student of the game here.
