Check the Big 12 North's record against the Big 10 the last 5 years. OUCH! Has to hurt
Hard to say the Big 10 is the better conference when the Big 12 had the better head to head record and better team.
There is no difference between last years Iowa team and Nebraska either.
Again, you're talking about the last 5 years. This thread is about this year.
I've conceded that the last 5 years or so, the Big Ten has been mediocre. Last year, however, it was better.
The Big 12 had the head-to-head last year with 3 close games and one blow-out. Again, the Big Ten beat 4 top 15 teams to end the season, while the Big 12 beat ZERO wins against top 15 opponents, with their best wins being against the #20 and #21 teams in the nation (one of whom is from the WEAK Pac-10 that CYKOFAN was blabbing about a little bit ago).
I'll take 4 top 15 wins and 2 BCS wins over 2 wins in the 20's and 0 BCS wins any season. You can have your head-to-head victories over the 2 worst bowl teams.
And the 2nd best team in the North (Missouri) was dominated by Navy. The third best team (KSU) didn't even make a bowl game. The highly touted Big 12 South went 2-3 in their bowls.
The only thing I'll admit is that at 4-4 the Big 12 didn't do as well as expected, and at 4-3 the Big 10 didn't do as badly as they normally do. Add in the fact that the Big 12 went 2-0 against the Big 10 and you have a relatively even performance. And don't forget that Nebraska pounded their Pac 10 opponent 33-0. And every football fan knows that a sloppy field is a great equalizer, that's a fact, not an excuse. The field in Orlando was beyond sloppy, it was an embarassment that the city said won't happen again. And when Iowa beats GT worse than they beat teams like UNI and Arkansas State at home, that tells you something about GT that was confirmed by watching that hapless one dimensional offense.
