Does anybody else go through sports withdrawl at this time of year?
Watching the NCAA Men's Basketball championship game is always kind of bittersweet for me. I love college basketball, so a game like last night is always fun for me, even if my team doesn't win. On the flip side though, it's always deflating for me since it's the last big sports event I can get really excited about for the next few months until football starts.
I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I just plain dislike baseball. Never played it as a kid, and I personally think the game is too slow, so I just don't follow it at all. I'll watch golf from time to time, and the NBA playoffs can be fun, and I might even try to follow NHL playoff hockey this season, since I thought the gold medal hockey game was so exciting, but otherwise the late spring/summer sports docket kind of sucks for me personally (as much as I like football, spring football isn't something I get too excited about). Other than singular events like the NBA and NFL drafts, there is just not much to look forward to for me for a while.
Anybody else feel the same?

I refer to it as PTD (Post-Tourney Depression). And I got a bad case of it this year.

I go through sports withdrawal from about the time the Super Bowl ends to the time March Madness begins. There is just nothing good sports related going on for those 6 weeks or so in between. I say the Bulls are my favorite basketball team, but I haven't watched a full NBA game since the Jordan days. I love the Chicago Blackhawks, but NHL doesn't really tickle my fancy until the playoffs begin.
I love baseball, but football is my passion (and even that is an understatement.) I always say baseball is what gets me through to the football season.

Not at all! This is one of the best times of the year for me. In a 3 week span, we get:
National Title Game
Opening Day
Baseball in General (which I love)
The Masters (and the triumphant return of Tiger)
ISU Spring Game
NFL Draft
I love this time of year. April is an OUSTANDING month for sports!

I found this kinda funny.
Re: Does anybody else go through sports withdrawl at this time of year?
After the Masters I will start showing symptoms. Then again I will be tuning into the NHL playoffs as the Olympic hockey tournament reminded me how awesome hockey can be when played at such a high level. I will be cheering against that POS Crosby and the Penguins. That punk should go play in Canada.
Re: Does anybody else go through sports withdrawl at this time of year?
I go through this as well. I'm still looking forward to the Masters this weekend, but after that, it is a pretty long dry spell until football returns. I like baseball, and I will make the trip out to a couple games this year, but I just don't care to follow it closely all season. There are way too many games and the games themselves are too long, so sitting around trying to watch most of them on TV is just out of the question.
I will probably find myself watching a little bit of the World Cup to fill the void, even though I'm not much of a soccer fan either.

I'm good until the NHL playoffs end. Then it sucks. Barnstormers football is really the only sport I pay any attention to from June-August, which really is just fine with me because there's so much to do during the summer.

Yeah, looking at it, that is kind of inconsistent on my part, isn't it? Oh well, I don't sit down and watch every single golf tournament on TV, but if there's some drama involved on Sunday's final round, I'll check it out.

Oooh, I completely forgot about the World Cup, thanks for the reminder. I do like soccer, especially epic events like the World Cup.
Re: Does anybody else go through sports withdrawl at this time of year?
The nice weather delays it until late June or so. I can get outside, golf, grill, etc. to ebb the lack of sports on television.
Re: Does anybody else go through sports withdrawl at this time of year?
Yes, because i dislike baseball and football is sooo long away.
Re: Does anybody else go through sports withdrawl at this time of year?
While I'm longing for the start of football season, I'd say withdrawals are extreme - first, you have the NBA and NHL postseason, which will take you into May/June. I also enjoy watching baseball, even on TV, and I plan on going to several games this year. I also enjoy sleeping through NASCAR races on Sundays. Next thing I know it's the end of August and college football and NFL are getting into gear.
Re: Does anybody else go through sports withdrawl at this time of year?
I agree 100%. Never got into baseball, can watch golf but don't devote a weekend to it (would rather just go play it). I just start looking forward to football season. About the only thing on my radar is watching the college Lacrosse tournament. I have never played that game but for some reason I love it and we almost always watch the final four on memorial day weekend at our cabin because it is too cold to be in the water.
But my biggest way to deal with this sports withdrawl is lots and lots of fishing.
Re: Does anybody else go through sports withdrawl at this time of year?
Track always occupied my interest until june. I have picked up golf now and that will hopefully fill the void.
So, Track + Golf + Spring football + Nice weather + work = something to do until football season
