    Why. Why in the world would any school give a coach that long of a contract. Just too many things could happen, and in the end, these contracts can always be changed/broken.

    Gee I dunno, might have something to do with the fact that he got to the Championship game with the smallest school since the tournament expansion. But probably not, this one is a real mystery to me.

    I understand that he is a good coach, seems to have everything going for him. But what happens if he loses his spark and goes it all goes downhill from there. Butler would have one heck of a buyout to pay to get rid of him.

    Risk/reward I guess.

    Exactly, if they don't lock him up and he leaves, Butler's not exactly a coaching destination yet. If he's able to sustain success and prove they're not a flash in the pan, it might be a different story.

    Simple...they can give him more money and/or more time.

    Obviously, they do not have the ability to give him more money so they are giving him more time.
