What Is the Most Overrated College Football Program in the Country?

Interesting....Iowa is the 5th most underrated team in the country.....I would have actually guessed Iowa to be more overrated than underrated.

Of course, by this guys methodology Iowa would thrive. More often then not Iowa succeeds when they aren't expected to (we've finished top 10 in three seasons when we were not rated to start the season, and that is only in the last decade).....in those types of seasons you rack up a lot of points with the system this guy is using.

I agree. There are pretty big flaws in his methodology, but it makes for interesting message board fodder.

The fact is that pre-season rankings normally give much more weight to the big name programs. Yet, throughout the season, many of these teams will fall off the map, and be replaced by teams like Boise State, Iowa, etc that don't garner the national media attention.

How can we be number 34, or whatever it was, and we are never rated above, what, like 60???? What's the point in putting teams like us and Army on that list???

He just included the numbers of every team that has been ranked in either the preseason AP poll or the final AP poll. We get in because of the 2000 season. I believe that's the only time in the last 20 years we've been ranked at the end of the year. Certainly have not been in any preseason polls.

We were considered "underrated", but near the bottom of that category. Kind of a confusing way to do it, IMO.

Anyway, as the previous poster said, it would be due to our one finish in the top 25, and that is countered by ZERO pre-season rankings, thereby making us slightly underrated.

Iowa is the most overrated team in Iowa... but by in large I can see how they are underrated on a national level. Like it or not they have been pretty solid.
