Sounds about like a Hawk response after an ISU-Iowa game.

Actuallly this is a fair statement..
If you accept a transfer aren't you contributing to the problem?
Not sure how the statement below does not contradict with what ISU just did.
However, it also helps to keep our transfers in perspective. My peers and I continually discuss the epidemic around the country in the sport of basketball. In the past two years over 500 men’s basketball players have transferred from a Division I team to another program. That number is absolutely amazing. Unfortunately if a kid’s world is not absolutely perfect (in their mind), they run from the problem rather than deal with it. Makes you wonder if it is the first signs of our society’s change in our early education program (no longer give kids grades – everybody passes; can’t keep score, everybody has to win; if you do not like something, have mom or dad complain on your behalf). Personally I wonder how that generation is going to survive in the real world when mom or dad or AAU coach are not there for them during their first job interview or first job evaluation. The bottom line is life is not a video game, you can’t just hit reset if you do not like your initial score.
Think about it and it will come to you.
i.e. - ISU wins and hawks say it was just lucky or the Hawks just didn't show up. Iowa wins and all of the sudden it's ISU can't hang and thanks for playing little brother were off to our yearly predictions of national champions.
So you see it is a typical Hawk answer.
Actually what you said was "if iowa wins it's because the team didn't care. and if Iowa loses they can't hang with the big boys". You were calling out some guys for their thoughts on that about Iowa. Just pointing out that it is ironic that an Iowa fan doesn't like that mindset when they use it towards ISU all the time.
No it really isn't. Kids have always transferred and will always transfer. The number of kids transferring have gone up and that is the way it is anymore. His only motivation for even bringing the topic up was to take a shot at Jamie Pollard. If you can't see that then you are blind. He rants about everything negative he can think of when it comes to ISU and Pollard. He used to rant about GMAC but now he has to spoon with him at night so his crappy website won't go down in flames. Matt should stick to what he knows.... Creighton, Nebraska football, verbally abusing his ex girlfriends on his radio show, and the Red Sox. If he strays from those topics then he is way, WAY out of his element.
Slightly off topic but I do remember when Northwestern was co-champions of the Big 10 in 2000 and had to play a disappointed Nebraska squad in the Alamo Bowl. You would think the Big 10 co-champions would put up more of a fight then the 66-17 thrashing Nebraska handed them. Ouch. :biglaugh:
3 games is not a good sample size. The tradition/prestige of Michigan, OSU, and PSU is every bit as good as Texas'
You mean like how teams like Kansas St wouldn't sniff one either:skeptical:
Texas wouldn't be just another school, but let's not get too carried away.
People have to remember teams have cycles. Each of them can be up and down over time.
I am a fan of Iowa & ISU, but I don't find Jon's comment out of line about he would rather play Texas every year instead of OSU every year. Reasonable fans can disagree and each can give their reasons. Honestly, I think I would rather face Texas right now than OSU every year also.
One thing about playing Texas is if Ferentz would have some success against them and raise the Iowa identity there are a lot of recruits down there to pull out of that state. If they play Texas and A&M that may open a lot of doors down there. I don't mean all the 4 &5 star kids are coming to Iowa but if they could even get a couple and develop a pipeline, Ferentz can find a lot of 3 star kids he can win with out of there I bet. Ferentz has shown a great ability for devloping players. So I think it could be a great opportunity for Ferentz while at Iowa.
You are right. 3 games isn't a very big sample size but it certainly does show that Texas is more then capable of handling OSU year in and year out. They had 1 win with Vince Young. They lost the game when Colt McCoy was a freshman and then won the bowl game his junior year. The 3 game track record isn't good for OSU.
