And I just don't see why Texas wants to jump. Texas could make more in TV revenue, but they could make more $ than they are by staying put in the Big 12, and getting a Network that has equal revenue sharing with the Pac 10.
I think Texas is just so arrogant, that they'll refuse revenue sharing even if it profited them, because, they already did it at the start of the Big 12.
The thing I don't get is how the Big 10 voted for it in the first place. You'd think the Penn States, Michigans and Ohio States of the world would have been opposed to sharing their money with Northwestern, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, etc. I guess they were just forward thinking.

Re: Miller-Deace
I love bad radio, so I tuned into 1460 this morning to hear how it would be better to have “Tulane, Colorado St. and San Diego St. rather than Texas, Texas A&M and Missouri” in the Big 12. Let’s put this into perspective for Big 10 fan, that’s like saying it’s better to have “Western Michigan, Miami of Ohio, and Southern Illinois, instead of Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Illinois.” -

IF they go to the new Big 10, how many national championships do they play for in the next decade? I don't see them leaving, they dominate now in football, they have more money than they know what to do with.......just because the Yankees (the Big 10) can offer more money, doesn't mean that it is worth going.

Re: Miller-Deace
Sorry, I misunderstood the point you were trying to make. Yes, Texas isn't going anywhere, they have no reason too. They, like Nebraska and Missouri, are just posturing right now in an effort to make themselves look more attractive. I saw the Big 10 guy on tv Tuesday and he said any speculation on teams was just that, and they may not even add any.

Re: Miller-Deace
We are getting into a sports dead period. That is the biggest topic right now.
However I was suprised that ISU got no mention when it came to the research dollars conversation since we are third in the country in non-medical research grant dollars. Combined that with us being in the B10 footprint I think deserves at least a mention....

Re: Miller-Deace
As long as it can arm-twist and control every decision that is made in it's current conference, my question is why would Texas go anywhere? They might, but they've got a pretty darned sweet deal with the Big 12. If they go anywhere, I don't think it's the Big 11 because I think some schools in the Big 11 would raise a fit because of travel considerations (possibly covering for the fact that they don't want Texas coming in and winning the conference in football every year).
I still think the most likely suspects to leave the Big 12 are Missouri and Nebraska. Missouri because it has never liked the revenue situation in the conference and Nebraska because, well Nebraska has never liked the Big 12 and is sick and tired of Texas (and their co-hort in crime Texas A&M) running everything.

Miller and Deace: one worships Iowa and the other worships Michigan. So much for getting an objective perspective on big 10 expansion.

Re: Miller-Deace
Why does Texas think a Longhorn Networks is going to make any money? They would make much more $ with a wider reaching Netowrk.

Re: Miller-Deace
Jon, when Texas has openly talked about a desire to start their own network, what makes you think they have any interest in the BTN?

I would wager that there isn't another sports talk show in this country that is as familiar with every aspect of this story, and then some, than our program. You can draw a line through every national show..then you can draw a line through the shows in the south, the west and most in the east.
Just because you may not like it and just because you may not like the fact that I am an Iowa fan and Iowa is getting over for no other reason that they were in the Big Ten for a long time, that's on you.
