But remember this; the dollars on the academic side of things by being a part of the AAU dwarf anything Texas can do in sports.

Re: Miller-Deace
Texas is NOT going to the Big 10. It sounds stupid to even suggest it. There are way to many reasons the will never leave.
1. They run the Big 12 and have the commish in their back pocket. So they will step down as King to be a Princess?
2. They pretty much have an automatic in the the NT game yearly.
3. They wont even play ISU late in the season cause it is to Cold for them. So they will travel to any place where the temp can go below 50 for half their games?
4. T A&M is joined at the hip with them by state law.
Texas wasn't really crap till the joined the Big 12. So who knows what would happen if they chose a different path. So would it even be bad if they left or did their own thing? I not sure I would care as long as we got to keep A&M and just replace Texas with TCU or Houston.

Re: Miller-Deace
Texas doesn't need the Big Ten to join the AAU.

It would be one thing if Miller and Deace took in-depth looks at this expansion process, but to just scratch the surface of things after talking about this for 50% of each show for the past 3 weeks is mind-boggling.

Big Ten expansion is the biggest story in sports this 'off season' and we'll talk about it, and try to do it from an Big Ten and Big 12 perspective. It may not be for everyone. You can tune down the dial and hear them break down the Yankees and Red Sox, or go real deep about the NBA playoffs. If that's for you, you have options. Jon- I'm not bashing the show. I find it quite good and listen almost every morning.
Just a suggestion, try talking about the Big 10 expansion at different times each day during the week. I drive from 7-7:30 and this is the only topic that I remember you talking about all week. Not a whole lot of new information so it seems pretty repetitive.
Again not trying to bash the show, I understand that this is in the forefront in sports right now, just suggesting changing up the timing a bit during the week.
“It’s beyond pride. It’s a restored trust. There’s a confidence again, a passion that teeters on swagger. More than anything, (Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads) has restored the Iowa State “it” factor, the steadfast belief that it is great to be a Cyclone...the man’s enthusiasm is genuine to the core...” – columnist Sean Keeler, Des Moines Register -

I mean no one would just blindly assign percentages based soley on personal opinion. Kudos to you.

Rutgers isn't a huge football draw...but the area has eyeballs. Mike and Mike get to tell advertisers that they are on in x markets and can reach x people. they say 'we're on in Des Moines'..when we flat out crush them in the ratings. But it does not matter when you have that level of national reach...
Same applies with Rutgers and that marketplace.

I'd love to see a Texas, Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa west pod in the Big 4X4.

Re: Miller-Deace
We have these discussions EVERY YEAR IN MAY, JUNE AND JULY
There is very little substance in sports talk these months...every year. Some grease fires pop up that are great...issues like PED's set a theme for an entire summer..this year's theme setter is Big Ten Expansion.
Then people will create lists like "Hey, there are plenty of things to talk about, like:
-World Cup
-Baseball's daily grind
-Iowa Cubs (I love that suggestion)
-Iowa Barnstormers (even better than the last)
ETC ETC
Every summer. And the truth of the matter is that those things are a niche of a niche. People in this market care most about college football, then college basketball. The rest is just the rest. That happens to be what we care most about.
Other shows on this and other stations talk about what they care about. We'll talk about what we care about. Being that I have seen how many people are listening to this show compared to the other shows in town (and I mean every genre) and where we rank in the most important demographics, I think we'll stay on the course we're on. But I will certainly listen to suggestions if you want to email them to me. I won't pay them any mind under the umbrella of pitchforks and torches here.

I actually would LOVE world cup discussion. I could care less about soccer except the World and Euro cup.

Re: Miller-Deace
I agree with the OP that this topic has become beyond pale.
Yes - it was the biggest issue for a while. But for the past few weeks, NOTHING has happened. NOTHING is new. All that is being done is one radio show breaking down what another radio, tv, newspaper, or blogger is SPECULATING. Then somebody else breaking down what they said. Then somebody else. And somebody else. Heck, it's probably gone full circle 5x over.
I bet the likes of Delaney at the Big 10 are LAUGHING THEIR ARSES OFF at the feeding frenzy going on about this, by people - 99.9% of which don't have the first clue what is factually happening. They're getting more attention than they ever could've dreamed. At this point, if I'm the Big 10 - I drag this out for years.
This is quickly approaching the point (if it already hasn't) where the public really doesn't care that much any more (as evidenced my many here), but the media personalities continue to make it a topic.
