Re: OU headed to Pac 10
It is also being reported that Texas will announce that it is joining the PAC 10 next Tuesday.

JP better not be waiting around to hear what Texas is doing. It's each man for themself at this point... just get us in a conference... and quick! I'm split on this. We really would rather wait until at least one of the south teams leaves. Otherwise they could, for instance, bring in six other teams (mostly MWC probably), keep the Big XII going, and we would be required to pay the penalty for leaving.
Best scenario for us right now is for at least one south team to bolt, and then go as a package with Missouri, Kansas and Kansas State somewhere (probably the Big East).

Re: OU headed to Pac 10
This would actually be a good thing for ISU if the Big12 dissolves (which seems inevitable). If OU went to the SEC, they would need another team to go with them. There is a possibility that this team could be Kansas. Without Kansas, the Big East may not see the four remaining Big12 schools to be as good of an option. Now, if A&M also goes West then it would be almost assured that we will have at least KU and KSU to potentially bundle with.

My hopes were only coming from an ISU perspective.
Also, OU to the Pac-10 probably entices UT to go west. I have a desire to eliminate threats to the Big East, which UT to Big Telly would help with.

Re: OU headed to Pac 10
The rest of the Big 12 North needs to make a package deal move soon. This could get very ugly if Kansas makes a move without the rest of us.

I'm afraid that the Big East is built on a house of cards, with the big boys either waiting for a Big 10 bid (Rutgers, Syracuse) or others who will leave later. Every school will be taking phone calls.
I just don't see a future - or comparable Big 12 revenue as the years go on.

Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience. -

I think the Pac-10 would take TT or Utah and stop at 12. If a Big East offer is out there for KU and KSU, it may be just as probable KU goes east. Would KU want to be isolated in the Pac-10?
Academics, of the Pac-10 would be hard to beat.

Realistically, I don't think people assume they aren't trying, it's that we have very little leverage to apply to the situation.

Agree- but in all scenarios KU to the Big East makes the most sense for them (for basketball). And it sounds like the Big East would listen to the remaining North schools.

They won't ever have to travel to the University of Washington if this is a "Pac 16". The furthest they will have to travel will be Tempe or Tucson (Sorry, not sure which one is actually further away from Norman. I know Tucson is if you drive, but who drives anymore?)....a little over 900 miles.
