Is the Big East trying to become irrelevant in football?

    UCF. There's a winner.

Possibily. But I can understand them going after Memphis. For basketball purposes.

UCF, I think, is a sleeping giant in football. They have over 50,000 students and are near a major city (Orlando) which has no pro football team. They could be a force in the coming years.

Agreed. If they were to hire Snellenberger they'd blow up.

I agree. It also provides another FLA team to be paired with USF. Regional rival, helps recruiting, etc, etc. I think it'll be a winner.

UCF makes sense as it is clearly the next USF. Memphis doesn't because it will do real damage to the Big East's academic profile.

If I were them, I'd start looking at Eastern Carolina. Not a bad FB school.

Also very weak academically. Modest FB success in weak C-USA and nothing else. Would diminish the Big East.

Time to give Jim Williams of the Washington Examiner a little credit. He told me in the interview I did with him that those would be two of the first schools that the Big East looked to in expansion.
