A former BYU administrator with knowledge of the process the league went through when it formed in 1999 told The Tribune that some MWC presidents might look first toward schools that were in the original Western Athletic Conference before its ill-fated attempt at 16 teams, schools that were left at the altar when eight broke away in 1999.
Those would be Hawaii and UTEP. But the hangups with those schools then still exist now: increased travel, especially in regards to Hawaii.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.
