Re: Big Ten in this year's draft...unless my math is wrong

And the ACC had more draft picks in the NFL in 2010 compared to the Big 12, but you probably don't want to hear that the ACC had more talent in football since it was a crappy ACC team that Iowa beat in the Orange Bowl.

Each team gets 13 scholarships so that is 156 in the Big 12 and 143 in the Big Ten so out of 299 players your coming to this conclusion from 3% of the players.

Who cares how many teams the Big 12 had in the Final Four. Anybody who knows anything about the NCAA Tournament knows that the best teams don't always make the Final Four.

I could care less that the Big 12 didn't have a team in the Final Four. That means nothing in this conversation.

One Big Ten player was drafted. 10 from the Big 12 were drafted.

There is more talent in the Big 12. Period.
Both conferences had 4 teams ranked in the final poll last year, while the big 10 has 4 teams going to be in the top 25 this year, while the big 12 has 3 teams (at least according to the pre-season polls), with many saying Michigan State is the consensus #1. I'd say all the NBA draft tells you is that more big 12 underclassmen declared this year.

If having a single great coach and his team make the Final Four is the determinant of how good the overall conference is in MBB then, using your thought process, then the Horizon League this past year must have been a great league...Butler was in the Final Four. Or CUSA must have been a great league in 2008 because Memphis made the Final Four. Or the CAA must have been great in 2006 because George Mason made the Final Four. Or back in the day when UNLV was in the Final Four in the early 90s the Big West must have been a great conference...huh?

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

How often do those other conferences make Final 4's? If I am not mistaken, the Big 10 has sent 5 teams to the Final 4 since 2005 while the Big 12 has sent 1. I never said the Big 12 was bad, I just said the Big Ten isn't that bad and must have some sort of talent.

And we never said that the Big Ten doesn't have talent. It is just very clear by last night that the league doesn't have as much as the Big 12. Not my opinion, just the stats.

Chris, you are saying the b12 has more individually talented players but the b10 has better coaches and better teams. Correct?

Again, just because the big 12 had more early entries, doesn't mean they have more talent. MSU and Purdue could have had early entries, but they decided to stay in school. The two leagues were very comparable last year, as much as Chris can't see it.

I'll give you the coaches part of that. I think that the Big Ten has phenomenal coaches. Better teams? No. I still think the Big 12 is better. Just because they didn't have a team in the Final Four doesn't mean anything. Upsets happen all of the time in the Big Dance. Yes, UNI beat Kansas. Do I think that UNI is actually a better team than Kansas? Not a chance.

So basically it is a fluke if a Big 12 team doesn't make it to a FInal Four but the Big 10 is lucky if they make it? I think listening to Taylor Swift may have clouded your thoughts a little bit.

No. You just put words in my mouth. I never said that at all. Tom Izzo is a phenomenal coach.

The Big 12 is a more talented basketball league. You won't change my mind on this.

Come on Chris, this has to be one of the dumbest arguments you have made. I'm not going to say the Big 10 did have more talent, but they also had probably 5 or 6 guys decide to come back to school that would have been draft picks so then the difference would have been 10 picks to 6 or 7 for the Big Ten.

Yes the Big 12 had more talent last year but not head and shoulders more like you are making this out to be.

You are right. That would have made a difference. But that doesn't change my original point.

What about the eye test? Be honest. Watching the Big 12 last year vs. the Big Ten...which league do you think was better. Forget the draft stats. Just the eye test. What is your honest opinion?
