Meanwhile....Stadium Improvements

Last year Indiana bowled in their stadium with a beautiful addition. Now, this year, they are adding a state of the art video board and sound system.

So, to all you "we can't even sell out what we have - why would we bowl in the endzone" crowd; IU averages MAYBE 30K a game (not season tickets - total attendance), and they still decided it was in their long-term interests to make necessary stadium improvements NOW. We are getting left further and further behind in facilities.

Oh, and yeah I know we've have had thousands of threads on this, so sorry if people are sick of this subject.

They have the luxury of doing that because they make about 15 million more in TV revenue than we do. If we did that I imagine Jaime would be working on "Big House 2.0" schematics as we speak. It is not a comparable situation.

It's a lot nicer there too... I was at a game last year. Pretty nice to have it bowled in... wish JTS was. A man can dream I guess. I just don't have the $ to pony up and donate to the athletic dept.

The key is...how stable is that Big 12? In 5 years, we might not have Big 11 money, but we're going to at least be in the ballpark. The problem that I see is, how do you sign up for a 30 year loan/bond when you don't know if that income is stable. If ISU ends up sitting in the MWC or a Big 12/Big East merger in 10 years, they're not going to be able to make the payments. Still comes down to a big donor taking a chunk out of that bill.

ISU should put up folding chairs in the grass area...this would make it very classy and have a bowled in feeling too!

Start selling alcohol at the football games and take that money to bowl in the stadium

Ask? Who said anything about asking? Lets just run the budget into the ground and then demand that the government help us just like everyone else. Oh... and before we start this project let's give CPR, FH, KJ, BF, and all of our coaches and staff 5 million dollar bonuses. Wait... Let's go D-1 in hockey and bring back baseball too before we demand our money. That is all.

When was the last time IU men's basketball contributed anything other than to the W column of its opponents?

False.

If men's BB made a difference, Kansas wouldn't have almost been on the outside looking in if he Big 12 had folded. No one builds a football stadium on BB revenue. You're lucky if the BB revenue provides enough to keep your arena relavant.
