Re: Big east story
I think people are being naive if they think Texas isn't going to look to move again.

Re: Big east story
Where they going to go? The Longhorn Network is the reason they aren't leaving. Texas will never get a better deal than they have in the Big 12.
I'm not saying it won't happnen, but I think too many people are buying to speculation gone rampant.

Occam's Razor, people. My simple explanation is that they will continue to seek the most money. If another conference offers more, they're gone.
Once that network is up and running, no suitor is going to tell them they can't have it anymore. That's the reason they did stay, but it isn't enough long-term to keep them. Texas looks out for Texas, and that's it.

Re: Big east story
I would think this may be part of the contingency plan formulated in KC.

Texas looks out for Texas, and that's it. I'm with Al. Texas isn't likely to go to another conference because no conference will ever give them the kind of control they have with the Big 12.

The Big East is a bad football conference. Unless we were to win it half the time we wouldn't be looked at all that favorably. We also would take a hit in recruiting. Think about this: We will now play in Texas on a yearly basis multiple times. That is a draw. My guess is that has a net effect on at least one kid a year. That's big. If you play out East you lose that luster. I suppose if you only wish to win conference championships it would be fine. I would like to be seen as nationally competitive in 5 years. Sure we have a long ways to go. That doesn't mean it can't happen.

Re: Big east story
Texas goes independent. OU and A&M to the SEC. OSU, Tech, and Baylor go to the Pac-16.
There, I just blew up the conference without really trying. You guys are naive if you don't think the B12 is a house of cards.

Re: Big east story
The question I have is what happens if the Big East losses Rutgers to the Big 10 and the Big East comes knocking on the four school's doors with guarentees similar to Beebe's deal, what happens? The forgotten four end up being the ones to put it to the Big 12 (10)?

Re: Big east story
As the weeks and months go bye, I'm not feeling real comfortable with the longevity of Big 12. Beebe promised a lot of things based on speculation; just ask aTm, threatening to sue the Big 12 if they don't get the 20 million that was promised

Re: Big east story
If the forgotten 4 are smart, and I think they are, I bet there are some behind the scenes things going on still to ensure we aren't left out in the cold. If there are no big buyouts, what's to stop us for looking at a Big East deal that is made not under the gun but with some time to hash out details? Maybe not include Missouri until the end so that they don't blow it for everyone!
