Re: Big east story
I think Texas could make more money if there was a conference network, not just a Texas network. Charging all the cable and dish subscribers a monthly fee would be pretty darn lucrative.

Re: Big east story
I would love for Iowa State and kansas + KSU to be playing PITT CINCI and Syracuse. How about a few big east titles for Iowa State. The only thing that would need to be figured out is Wrestling.

That's big. If you play out East you lose that luster. I suppose if you only wish to win conference championships it would be fine. I would like to be seen as nationally competitive in 5 years. Sure we have a long ways to go. That doesn't mean it can't happen. I dont think recruiting would take that big of a hit. Its not like were pulling in top Prospects. but if were in the big east your Florida recruiting would improve maybe. Florida is were it is. Dont believe me? take one look at J. George or LJ. Plus there are some respectable teams in the big east. PITT Syracuse, Cincinatti, South Florida, Rutgers. now add KSU KU ISU and MIZZOU. That is a good Conference.

There, I just blew up the conference without really trying. You guys are naive if you don't think the B12 is a house of cards. No, you are naive or dumb (take your pick) if you think Texas would go independent. It would totally hose up all their sports with the possible exception of football. You are also naive/dumb to think that the Pac-16 would take OSU, Tech, and Baylor without Texas, OU, and A&M.
If the Longhorn Network ends up being successful, Texas will not relinquish their video/media rights by moving to another conference that has their own network. And in order for a conference network to work across its entire footprint, all schools must relinquish those rights to the conference.

Re: Big east story
I was in favor of the possibilities of a move to the Big East as well. For now, I'm content with the Big 12 but the minute things start to blow up again within the conference I hope we still have a Big East offer on the table. I really hope they're not serious about adding Memphis for the sake of just adding teams.
Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience. -

It was just one scenario that I threw out where the conference could get destroyed. Its not hard to do with the conference being held together by Beebe's turnicate of promises.
And if ND can be an independent, Texas certainly can. That state is its own nation.

Why do their other sports need a conference? Can't they just play the thousand public and private schools in Texas? Baylor, Tech, A&M, Houston, SMU, Rice, North Texas, TCU, Texas State, and UTEP.
Never mind the surround states with OU, OSU, Tulsa, Arkansas, LSU, Tulane, Lousiana Lafayette, Lousiana Tech, New Mexico and New Mexico State.
It not like schools are going to boycott Texas. Its Texas. Texas would do just fine as an independent, although I doubt it ever happens. Pac-12 is more likely.
