Does anyone know how aggressively Pollard is raising funds for this? I remember when he released his plans back in 2006/2007 there was a lot of excitement regarding this project. However, since then the economy tanked and we never really hear much about it. I'm sure Pollard still wants to get it done, but whats his feelings on it?
I don't think they should even put seats in, standing room only like a Roman Colliseum. Who wants to sit during a football game anyway....besides geriatric Husker fans.
This got me to thinking...at Clemson's version of Death Valley, the north endzone is nothing but a grass hillside...it is where the students "sit" for all games.
The team rubs Howard's Rock as they enter the stadium at the top of this endzone and then run down the hillside in between the students onto the field. As an FYI...this hillside is pretty darned steep.
Of course, on the south end of the stadium they have a bowled in arrangement with brand new (well maybe a few years old) luxury box suites / stadium club type seating.
I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.
The weight room and training equipment don't matter until the south endzone is taken care of and they can move the visitor's stuff OUT of the Jacobson Building. Our weight room, film rooms, football offices, etc. are a joke compared to the schools we want to compete for recruits with. The Jacobson Building will be VASTLY improved if a south endzone goes up and they can get the visitors out, expand the locker room, expand the weight room, and if things really went well, got the grounds crew stuff out of there, which would open up the lower level also.
How many new weight rooms and locker rooms does the FB team need? I understand this is an arms race but my gosh this gets old. The new Jacobson building is less than 15 years old and all of sudden it is out dated. They have also remodeled it at least once for the FB team. Its is just crazy we cannot build a building that cannot be used for more than 10 years. If you want more space get Morton to donate a 150x250 building. Or add on to the Indoor facality for $500,000. I dont understand why we have to spend millions of dollars for a weightroom and lockerroom facality. I really dont understand why we need to spend millions on a vistor facality that only gets used 7 times a year.
The gap in our economy is between what we have and what we think we ought to have--and that is a moral problem, not an economic one. - Paul Heyne
