What does mean extra money for ISU is how many Big 12 teams make BCS bowls. If your argument is money, then you should want all Big 12 teams to win their non-conference games, as this could help improve the BCS ranking of the top Big 12 teams, and help the Big 12 get two BCS bowls. This.
But money arguments, even good ones, don't work on me in any case. I want Tech to have transitional vulnerabilities because I want our guys to have every advantage possible against every opponent possible.
If I was worried about money, I'd go to a game that pitted the Accountants vs. the Actuaries.

If you are looking strictly at bowl revenue, then you are correct. However, if you are looking at revenue for the program, then I don't think it is so clear cut. I would tend to guess that getting a better bowl game would equate to more exposure nationally with the game itself, more excitement for the ISU fanbase, and thus likely more sales for tickets next year, merchandise, etc. So looking at the bigger picture, making the Holiday Bowl or Alamo Bowl instead of heading back to Shreveport could add some dollars to the AD even though the bowl money we get from the conference would be the same.
