Re: Pollard faces neighborhood tonight about new sports complex

Whats amazing to me is that the neighborhood is full of faculty (the best and brightest") with advanced degrees, yet they expected that area to remain undeveloped.

I understand the concern, but not the outrage displayed. It seems to me that there had to be a certain amount of "seeing it coming" or "this was bound to happen."

Those residents should take this opportunity to voice their concerns, not b**** about how little warning they had. As previously stated, ISU has no obligation to do anything, they own the land and can do as they please.

I hope this doesn't turn into some full out poop-flinging fest where ISU has to bend over backwards. This town needs the university to flourish, and this is one baby step in the right direction.

Was there widespread "outrage" at this meeting, or mainly concern? Kitkat seems to describe the latter. Judging from news reports, there was really just one citizen who was truly outraged, Joe Rippetoe, who is seemingly always "outraged" at public meetings in Ames.
I do think that ISU, Pollard and Madden should have held a neighborhood meeting before going to the BOR, as opposed to after. Regardless of whether they needed to or not, it would have seemed less arrogant...
