Re: If you had a billion dollars to give to the ISU Athletic Department...
1) New Athletic Complex out of the floodplain
- New Arena designed to be even louder than Hilton
- 70,000 seat stadium with seating in both endzones
- Smaller venue for Wrestling/ Volleyball/ D1 Hockey
- New baseball team with stadium
2) Send the rest (est 100 mil) to endowments to grow

And I wouldn't have to eat Kraft dinner. But I would. I 'd buy you a monkey.
Haven't you always wanted a monkey?

Re: If you had a billion dollars to give to the ISU Athletic Department...
1) Build a brand new football stadium. 60,000-65,000 capacity, and designed to be as loud and intimidating as possible.
2) Completely renovate Hilton, or just build a new arena. Not a Qwest Center/Wells Fargo Arena 'cavernous pit with no atmosphere' type, but one that keeps with the tradition of Hilton. Again, designed to be loud and intimidating. Move the rich old people to the new suites, and give the students the seats in the arena circle.
3) Build the best offices and practice facilities money can buy for football/basketball.
4) Build a smaller arena (maybe 5,000-ish) for volleyball/gymnastics/wrestling/etc
5) Improve facilities for all other non-revenue sports, to the point that they're the best in the NCAA.
6) Bring back baseball, and maybe add a few other sports as well.
7) Raise coaching salaries so our coaches are the best paid in the country.
8) And, of course, invest the money to make sure the AD can keep funding all of this stuff.

Give 900 million to ISU and take the rest and move to Hawaii?

For those of you saying you'd get baseball or hockey, wasn't that a Title IX thing? Unless you're going to put that money into changing federal laws, wouldn't it be kind of a waste?

Re: If you had a billion dollars to give to the ISU Athletic Department...
Would definitely want a brand new FB Stadium and complex that would include offices weight room etc. I love Hilton and the whole complex including CY Stephens Auditorium, so I would want them improved, but keep the design. Would want all of the sports to have the best facilities in the Big 12.

Re: If you had a billion dollars to give to the ISU Athletic Department...
Would it be possible to build a domed stadium that could be used for football and baseball? I would do that, as well as massively upgrading Hilton, including setting it up to play hockey permanently. I would hope to do that with 500 million, and invest the other 500 million for long term income for the department.

Re: If you had a billion dollars to give to the ISU Athletic Department...
I would put 1 billion in an endowment. Using a base, the ISU endowment fund since 1992 has an annualized return of 7.2%. That would be about 72million each year that the AD can use. With that Money every year you could do the following:
1. Bowl in Jack Trice according to plans (roughly 60 mil) add more to the plan to make JT better and spend 90 mil. Take out a 30 year loan plus interest and say we spend 4 mil on that part of the budget
2. Football complex, again take a loan out for 20 mil for 30 years or something and spend with interest 1 mil or 1.5 mil
3. Renovate Hilton and spend 100 mil, again take out a loan plus interest and spend 4.5 or 5 mil a year.
4. Build a facility for Vball, and wrestling and gymnastics to host their events with practice facilities for them. Have offices, weight center and team rooms. Then on the opposite side have a swimming pool for the swimmers. Lets say this costs 50 mil and we spend 2-2.5 mil a year on a loan.
5. What ever the AD wants
From that, on the high end, we would spend 13 mil or 15 mil a year on upgrades out of 72 mil. The rest of the endowment can be spent on salaries and other things. If the endowment declines in value like many did in 4th quarter in 2008, the endowment money can be used as collateral. Of course my numbers are made up, but by taking out loans for these things you can accomplish a lot in a short amount of time.

You would never need that many seats for college baseball, and Rogers Centre hosts the Blue Jays and the Bills occasionally so it obviously can be done, as did the MetroDome.

I was putting a bunch of **** down, then I had a Richard Pryor moment, and realized I'm not smart enough to spend a billion dollars.
