Some more photos in the 25-30 year old range
I think I have the captions correct but there are a couple questions marks I was not sure about. I should know them but can't remember. If anyone sees any mistakes please email me. thanks. Wesley Winterink Photography | ISU Athletics Album 002 -

Wow the old basketball pics really shocked me; cause I remember those. Compare those to the steroid induced muscle laden monsters who are tattooed out by age 19 and have their shorts to their knees guys we have today. Yuck. Man, our society has changed a lot in 20 years. Remember when gambling used to be illegal? I hope its not just me who feels out of touch sometimes; and I'm not THAT old either. I tell you, sometimes I look around as just say "what the hell happened?" Its not just the players, but society in general. Sorry to be a grumpy old fart; just had to get that off my chest.

It's ok. 40 years ago, someone was saying the exact same thing about the time you're romanticizing. 40 years from now, someone will say the same thing about today.

If these pictures do anything it reminds me that the Cyclones used to have ONE set of school colors, unlike today where they seem to change the school colors every couple of years (blue, red, yellow, cardinal, maroon). While I will always be a Cyclone fan, it should would be nice to be able to wear a 5 year old shirt and still have it be in the correct school colors. -

Lol, look at that scoreboard in picture 11. If anything, pics show we have made some progress. Thx Wesley

Now, if only I could remember where my seats were--in the crowd behind Grayer/Manning. We got a new Marshall here in town, and his name's Paul Rhoads, and the times, they is a'changin'.

Are you looking at the same pictures that I am!? If anything, these pictures tell me we could NOT keep consistent colors during the 80's whatsoever, that the problem was just as bad then as it was during the last decade. Look at the shade of cardinal on the uni's in 1981 compared to 1985. The bright red/yellow is disgusting, and the early shade of gold was actually gold. The baseball uni shade of cardinal isn't bright red but isn't true cardinal either. Basically, our 'identity' is all over the map in these pictures.
For the record, I like where we are at in 2011 with the colors/logo and hope it never changes. And if it does, please dear God do not let us bring back that bright shade of red.
Another interesting pic is the football pic against KU in 1980. Shows about the exact same uniform we wear today (although we didn't wear the gold pants for away games last year, we did several times in Chizik's time here). Some Cyclone fans need to quit the 'we copied USC' crap.

Great photos Wes. I remember being on the field after a game and Alex Espinoza giving me one of his wristbands. Pretty great day for an 11 or 12 year old Cyclone fan -
