But you could make club seating available on the sides, just below the suites for 10 rows or something? And if people that used to sit there don't want to pay for club seats, then they could get seats somewhere else.
I can't remember what the current requirements are for club seating but it is high (yearly contribution of $5K or something like that). I think club seating for the SEZ would maybe be less amenities at a reduced entrance point like $1000 per year. It would be hard for big contributors to give at a high rate and then end up with endzone seats. A lower entrance point and a few amenities may entice people to give up seats on the sides for SEZ seats with some club amenities.

I believe he buys at least 3 and maybe 5. How about you, plus he is a mid level donor, how about you.

Hell, you could probably sell a season ticket for those seats at $500 per, with access to the club (considering endzone seats run about $100 now, iirc) and then offer an upsale, depending on donor level, for access to the club area for an additional price, for those with seats elsewhere.
Re: Jamie Pollard talks facilities/south endzone
Well that was a disappointing read. I don't agree with Pollard and him thinking the south end zone does nothing for the fans.
Re: Jamie Pollard talks facilities/south endzone
For those thinking that JP is wrong again, I'll have to disagree. If it made financial sense to bowl it in at this time, he'd do it in a heartbeat.
JP is using something that is very rare these days and many people don't use it including our government. "It is called being fiscally responsible."
Good job outta JP!

I think Jamie pollard is a very smart man and he is someone we as cyclone fans can depend on. He has a great vision for All of ISU athletics.
As for the bball season ticket sales: We're behind ya Freddie!!
Re: Jamie Pollard talks facilities/south endzone
I'm not buying the $30-50M. Say you want to do just the lower level. That's basically a bunch of fill and a concrete pour. If there's nothing underneath but dirt, I think that $20M should cover it. You can assume that new restrooms/concessions and a new gate would add another $5M. So, for $25M, you should be able to get the lower deck...probably the upper deck to for $35M. Anything above that would depend on what is going in between the levels.
Thing is, for as much as the fanbase wants this, I've never seen JP push any sort of fundraising drive for this. I'm sure he's talked to the big donors, but that hasn't worked (yet). Why not try something a little more grassroots?

I agree. Many people on this site have stated that if there was a specific fund to donate towards the south endzone they would donate more. I don't know why we haven't done this.
Re: Jamie Pollard talks facilities/south endzone
I would also donate to a fund drive for the south end zone. Even just a lower level would do wonders for the appearance of the stadium, which helps recruiting, which helps winning, which helps the fans.
Re: Jamie Pollard talks facilities/south endzone
I agree with JP 100%. Bowling in the endzone does little to nothing for the athletes. Not only that but some of you just want it done. IMO, if we want to do it, we need to do it right. When we do it, we need to do upper and lower and be done. I want it done really bad but things like the Sukup and the football facilities need to be done way before bowling in the endzone.
Re: Jamie Pollard talks facilities/south endzone
Whoa - Pollard makes it sound like it's the university's fault that a new pool wasn't included in the new Rec Center:
“When campus decided to build a new rec center and didn’t include a pool, that was a big blow to our swimming program,” Pollard said.
That's just not the case. A new pool was indeed in the original plans, but the athletic department was to pay for that part of it. Just as Iowa's AD paid for the new pool in the new one in Iowa City. But our athletic department then backed out, saying they could not afford it, and the pool was removed from the plans.
It's not the university's fault that a competitive pool isn't being built, it's the athletic department's.

I don't think some of us are dissapointed because JP is getting the football complex and the like done first. I think we can all agree that's the best choice...but I know when I hear JP talking about golf practice facilities and swimming pools...:skeptical:...kind of makes a guy wonder. No offense but screw golf and swimming. You golf on a golf course and cut swimming if it's such an issue. I hate coming off sounding harsh but the south end zone has GOT to happen and happen soon. I also disagree that the athletes wouldn't be swayed by a MUCH cooler and big time looking stadium. I think it would have a significant affect.

So cut all sports not generating profit right? Or at least pay them no attention? Pollard is not the football and basketball director. He is the athletic director. I think some people forget that sometimes.
Re: Jamie Pollard talks facilities/south endzone
I'm just pumped to see the new scoreboard and hear the air raid siren!
