So when the Big 12 (11, 10, 9, 8...) explodes again in a few years our bowled-in stadium will make the Big East or MVC more intrigued by the prospect of an Iowa State addition?

Lets make our athletics "car" run in top shape prior to putting a spoiler and spinners on it.

Nobody is forgetting he's the director of all ISU athletics..but you've got to be crazy to think anyone or any potential conference gives three ***** about ISU's indoor golfing range or our brand new swimming pool. They won't...and we shouldn't.

And actually yes, cut all sports that we can that don't generate a profit. I want ISU to remain a solid athletic department as much as you do. It has GOT to change at all costs.

Re: Jamie Pollard talks facilities/south endzone

As much as some of you want to think that having a well look after AD as a whole is a great thing (and it is), but all those things that you think will help ISU look more attractive to other conferences, means crap this day and age. Those sniper conferences are looking for REVENUE GENERATORS. However, and as sad as it is to say, golf, swimming, dance, track, soccer, softball, etc. don't create that factor. Not in this geography. Sorry, but the money makings need the scratch, if you will, first.
As a few have sad, these make the AD go.

And IMO, these will make ISU's athletic department go forward. Whether it is in this "new" Big XII or attracting others to scoop up what's left of ISU is implosion happens. Therefore, that is where I disagree with ADJP. While I would love, and I truly would, those programs get everything they need to be the best. It truly isn't in the best interest of the AD to ignore the nationwide REVENUE generators of true/basic needs (small/side show doesn't cut it anymore).
NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section.

Definately one of the more depressing reads on the Cyclone fanatic website. I love JP and all, but to Bowl in the south endzone would do worlds for this program especially for a recruiting stand point. I just think with all this extra money we are getting in the next year or so, JP and the rest of the Athletic Dept could figure a way out to make this happen. If they could at least build the lower deck that will have the ability to have a 2nd deck added in the future would be just as good, and satisfying to CyclONEnation

South endzone cost $150 a season right now. There was talk if they built bowled in the endzone prices would go to $250 to $300 a season. Yeah that would be a huge price increase for people in that area. It is not that big a deal to get this done. Jaimie is correct and we have to take care of all the programs.

As others have said, football (and to a lesser extent men's basketball) drive the athletic department. Improve the stadium and you improve recruiting and results on the field, which not only makes the fans happy but generates more money for the whole department, which in turn helps the minor sports. How can anybody dispute that?

Some of you have to think in realistic terms here. Demand for tickets creates the need for additional seating, not the other way around. "If you build it they will come" is movie lore.

Current uncertainty in the B12 is being driven by football, plain and simple. I don`t hear one word about OU & OSU`s unfair advantage in golf, or UT`s dominant swimming program being an impetus for conference reallignment. If the ISU program wants t stay in a BCS conference with AQ status, then you need to do everything in your power to prepare for that contingency. Bowling in the SEZ gives the look and feel of "big time", and that is vital for survival. The scoreboard and football facilities are a very good start, but the SEZ project needs to get going now.

I get the impression that most in this thread do not understand cash flow and JP's priority of not having any negative cash flow, especially since the AD is now completely self-sustaining. JP is not going to go forward with any project until he can prove that it will not put the AD in the red for any period of time. The new money from the 2nd tier TV deal is primarily being directed to the new FB facility. At this time, he cannot overextend on the South End Zone project.

Also, it is no secret that if the familiy of this website's owner can find a buyer and sell off some major assets, the South End Zone project gets put on the fast track.

No offense but screw golf and swimming. You golf on a golf course and cut swimming if it's such an issue. I hate coming off sounding harsh but the south end zone has GOT to happen and happen soon. I also disagree that the athletes wouldn't be swayed by a MUCH cooler and big time looking stadium. I think it would have a significant affect.

You guys cannot be serious here. Football is the revenue producer, no one is arguing that fact, but you seriously don't think the fact that we would have no other respectable sports would make us a laughing stock. Small upgrades to the minor program help the AD as a whole which cannot be ignored by JP. He is taking the steps necessary to make our whole AD better.

If you look at the current upgrades, the percentage of dollars and effort being put into football and mens basketball are significantly larger than anything we would put into the other program and rightly so.

If he could guarantee a price increase in a bowled SEZ and club seating would bring in more dollars to the AD, he would bowl that **** in on the quick. Keep in mind, he has probably done a ton of market research to determine if it would be cost effective right now and it's not.

Let the AD direct for ******'s sake

My parents have tickets in this area and have talked several times about bumping their donation level if SEZ pricing keeps increasing and going into the upper decks. If that would work with other fans I would encourage this price bump but I think we might lose a lot of fans too.

Re: Jamie Pollard talks facilities/south endzone

Football is survival these days, and nothing else matters. Nebraska is in the Big 10 today because of their football, it has nothing to do with their golf, swimming, tennis, track, whatever. Boise got a MWC invite because of football, they suck at everything else. Utah got called up to the Pac 12, Utah has been very strong at football. TCU made the jump to the Big East, TCU has really built up their football.

Men's bball doesn't even come close. When the Big 12 looked to be on the verge of collapse, KU was stuck out in the cold with the rest of us despite a national fan following for one of the best men's bball programs in the country. I don't think it is any small coincidence that KU historically sucks at football.

We have to do everything we can to strengthen football to ensure the future stability of our conference. If we don't, our swim team may find themselves competing in their shiny new pool against their new Conference USA rivals, and that isn't good for anybody.
