Re: Sports business experts chime in on Iowa State's future
Lawyers have to find ways to make sure they have employment, too.
BTW - wasn't implying ISU is sitting idle. Would rather just believe we should think better of ourselves & our leaders and not settle for anything - i.e. Big East. While I'm one of the 1st to always poke fun at the Big 10, it would be the ideal place to be. Rivalries have historically made college football what it is - well, at least what is has been up to this point. If this past Saturday's game was a conference game, it would have only magnified it, if you could imagine it being magnified.
Adding ISU, KU, Mizzou, & ND or Pitt (sorry KSU) to the Big 10 would make a ton of sense geographically while also strengthening geographic rivalries. ISU vs Minn, ISU vs Neb, Ill vs Mizzou, Iowa vs KU, Iowa vs Mizzou - more rivalry type games in the schedule, the more interest any fan would have and is how the conference can build strength from the bottom-up. Build a solid conference, & location of the schools doesn't matter - see SEC. Most fans will watch most SEC games because it viewed at the elite football conference (another topic altogether, though), so really there is no need to add schools who do not fit geographically.
Pipe dream, I know - but why settle? There's my only tidbit on all the realignment BS. Now I'll be quiet & let it play out. (and, in the end, hope Texas is left all alone & in a worse spot than it would have been in a conference that shares the revenue equitably)
