I'd put a good amount of money on the middle-aged white guy.

He received three physics degrees -- a bachelor's (1969) from Bangalore University, Bangalore, Karnataka State, India; a master's (1971) from Delhi University, India; and a doctorate (1976) from Indiana University, Bloomington.
I don't know dude, according to Blum, the University of Delhi is going to be a member of the PAC-32, maybe his football support would be better than expected. Blum: Rise of the Super Conferences | Cyclone Fanatic -
Re: Finalists for ISU President to be Announced Today
Finalists in the Iowa State University president search will be released hours before the Iowa Board of Regents meet Tuesday in West Des Moines.
The names of the finalists will be released later today, search committee co-chairman Labh Hira, dean of the ISU business school, said in an email.
Hira did not immediately respond to questions about the timing of the release. Last week, Hira said the committee would release the names of four or five finalists today.
ISU faculty president Steve Freeman, a committee member, said the group today is finalizing travel arrangements and the dates for each finalist’s visit to campus before releasing the names, Regent Bob Downer of Iowa City said he was told the committee would likely recommend four finalists, and that two were “extremely strong candidates.”
The board will meet Tuesday at the West Des Moines Sheraton Hotel at 8:30 a.m. The meeting agenda lists an update on the presidential search as item 12 of 20.
The 18-person search committee conducted in-person interviews last Thursday and Friday with nine semifinalists in Minneapolis.
Up to five public forums have been scheduled between Sept. 22 and Sept. 28. Each finalist is scheduled to attend a single one-hour session.
What a rediculous quote. Made, of course, by the Regent from Iowa City.

Yep, I'd go all in on Leath being the guy selected.

All other things being equal, I would rather have the pure science guy than the ag guy. Science is what Iowa State is about and it is what brings all of its strengths---engineering, ag, liberal arts and sciences together.
I fear getting a president that is too specialized in one area will hurt the other areas.

Re: Finalists for ISU President to be Announced Today
If we had Subbaswamy as president our club cricket team would be top notch, I'm sure.

I'm all in on Leath, very impressive resume in research, fund raising and working with the private sector. he was a finalist for the SDSU job this spring. See the attached link and his response to question towards athletics. SDSU candidate stresses “telling our story” | SignOnSanDiego.com -

Dr. "Swamy" Subbaswamy is very well liked and respected at UK. From what I can gather he has been supportive of the UK athletics programs. Here are a couple of links for more information. I don't think we could go wrong either way. University of Kentucky - Office of the Provost

Both look like strong candidates with great research and academic affairs leadership. Like getcloned stated, I don't think we can go wrong unless they both drop out.

Fits well with Cyclone fanatics I'm sure.

Re: Finalists for ISU President to be Announced Today
ISU has lately tried to be very PC. I'll go with the guy's whose name I can't say or spell, but would prefer somebody who has a degree in something besides Physics. Who on here said Leah was to "one field" than the subway guy? All he has is physics, we need a guy who has dealt with the private business world. This is where you grow you're endowment.
