Finalists in the Iowa State University president search will be released hours before the Iowa Board of Regents meet Tuesday in West Des Moines.
The names of the finalists will be released later today, search committee co-chairman Labh Hira, dean of the ISU business school, said in an email.
Hira did not immediately respond to questions about the timing of the release. Last week, Hira said the committee would release the names of four or five finalists today.
ISU faculty president Steve Freeman, a committee member, said the group today is finalizing travel arrangements and the dates for each finalist’s visit to campus before releasing the names,
Regent Bob Downer of Iowa City said he was told the committee would likely recommend four finalists, and that two were “extremely strong candidates.”
The board will meet Tuesday at the West Des Moines Sheraton Hotel at 8:30 a.m. The meeting agenda lists an update on the presidential search as item 12 of 20.
The 18-person search committee conducted in-person interviews last Thursday and Friday with nine semifinalists in Minneapolis.
Up to five public forums have been scheduled between Sept. 22 and Sept. 28. Each finalist is scheduled to attend a single one-hour session.
