Should the wrestling program's $'s be shifted to FB and or MBB?

Curious to see what the response is. I know we have many, many wrestling diehards, and we do have a rich tradition in the sport, but it seems to have lost some of the appeal that it had say even ten years ago.

I'm not even sure what the wrestling budget runs, but I'd be tempted to make that change if it made us more competitive in FB and MBB. Maybe the dollars aren't enough to move the dial and outweigh the fallout from pulling the plug.

I know you're just speaking hypothetically, but I'd really hate to see this. I'd also guess the wrestling $$$ wouldn't help the other teams that much either. Or at least not "program changing" amounts

yeah I think people would be surprised at just how little the ISU wrestling budget is.

I am not a wrestling fan at all. I don't follow the sport at all, other than what I read on here. And I emphatically say NO!

Should the football money have been moved to wrestling during the 90's?

A down couple of years doesn't mean we should scrap the program.

You're right... it's nothing against our wrestling program, coaches, etc. Being in the middle of the MU/SEC saga, I've heard some compelling reasoning for putting the football program in the best position to succeed and to make money. If it would allow for improvements in facilities and/or coaches salaries, etc., and those put you in a better position, I think you have to at least consider it.

Wrestling as a major sport in the US is dying, so it will happen eventually.

Unequivocally no.

I'm not sure why this keeps being brought up. Wrestling is the one sport in which ISU has historically been a top 5 program. If ISU absolutely HAD to cut sport, or to use your hypothetical, wanted to cut a sport in order to direct more money to FB and MBB, then there are several sports that should be cut prior to wrestling. There are thousands of fans that enjoy and attend wrestling meets. How many people attend men's golf, cross country, or track and field? Dozens maybe? Those programs better be dead and gone before they even consider touching wrestling.

For me, it has nothing to do with a couple of down years. It has to do with limited resources (especially compared to other B12 schools) and where you choose to use those resources.

Part of me wants to see it done just to shut up some of the wrestling people on site. The ones that are extremely rude and treat posters like crap, that ask questions about wrestling, coaching, and general what is wrong things.

I don't care one way or another. Sure I want them to do well and represent ISU and win. Other then that... Yipppeee...

I never got into wrestling. I tried, but when you ask questions, or try to follow and you have some rude *** poster on this site complaining about it, really not worth the time. Some wrestling fans are the worse fans you can find. Not trying to lump everyone in. I'm sure someone will get offended and usually that is the person I'm talking about.
