My HS class (western Iowa) had 13/52 go to ISU. One went to iowa. About half the eventual ISU-goers started out at community college, and I'll take some credit for most of them eventually coming to ISU because they came up to visit me and loved it.
I do think that ISU is gaining some momentum. It helps that the FB team is competitive.
I grew up in SE Iowa and had a similar experience of being probably 1 of 5 ISU fans in the entire high school. So from my perspective, I completely disagree that we are only seeing people wearing more ISU apparel simply because our teams have improved. While that helps, the real reason we are seeing more is because there are MORE fans period.
