Seeing ISU where you'd never expect

I was in Anniston, AL on a work-related trip last week (I don't know why anyone would otherwise go to Anniston for any other reason, except for Talladega twice a year). A sports bar specializing in oysters and wings had an ISU banner (among other more popular colleges) hanging on the wall. Best of all, no Iowa banner.

I was at the florida stat vs. Tennessee national championship football game at the fiesta bowl. Had my isu shirt on. Walked by a guy and his wife both wearing isu gear. Immediatly gave each other hi five. Then they came and sat down right next to us. Everyone with florida state gear though we were all with each other.

I was at some sports bad in Addison, TX and they had an ISU banner. Not earth shattering news or anything, juts caught me off guard I guess.

Edit: It was Champps Americana and it is Dallas not Addison.

I bet you're right and I imagine a few more bars did the same. Its the least they can do for ISU giving them the national title.

My sister called me about a year ago from a town of about 40,000 people called Bihac in northern Bosnia-Herzegovina and she had just met a guy walking around with an Iowa State sweatshirt on. Turns out the guy's sister wen to grad school at ISU.

That's the only college sweatshirt she's seen in the town in the year that she's lived there.

Not extremely out of the ordinary but for the Jimmy Buffett concert in Des Moines tonight, they showed shots during one of his songs of Iowa and Iowa State fans tailgating before the concert. The ISU fans hands down were louder when they showed us than Iowa fans were

Also, I was down in Disney World a few years ago and I tried to see if I could find fans wearing apparel from all of the Big 12 schools. I saw all schools represented but Oklahoma State and Texas Tech, I saw ISU fans twice

A guy shook my hand and said go Cyclones in western Oregon when I was visiting my grandparents. In a Oregon town of about 10K right on the Pacific Ocean was pretty surprising.

Fall of 2007 a few of my friends and I were studying abroad in Spain. We had Thanksgiving week off, so we decided to travel to Rome for a few days. Sitting in our crappy hostel room at the end of the night, we were playing cards and drinking. A guy walks by and happens to see the one of us that was facing the door wearing an ISU shirt, and it turned out that him and two of his friends were also currently attending ISU. Pretty crazy run in to meet fellow students halfway across the world!

Saw a guy decked out in ISU gear at a Oregon UCLA baseball game in SoCal. I said go cyclones to the guy and found out he was from my home town...small world.

I saw an ISU polo shirt for sale at a store in Cork, Ireland. No other college represented in the store.

Some students we met there (drinking at a bar of course) also knew of ISU, in fact they were the ones who brought it up when we said we were from Iowa.

Last September, Omaha airport about 7 A.M. going into security, leaving security was Greg Mcdermott, he saw my ISU shirt, acknowledged me, pumped his fist and smiled and said " GO STATE", pretty loudly , I might add.
