Jamie Pollard's Leadership as AD
Pollard just tweeted that the Athletics Council approved their budget of $56 million. First time EVER over $50 million. Budget was $28 million in 2006. 100% self-funded, no state funding.
I know TV revenue helps immensely, but what Pollard has been able to do here with the budget alone is amazing. The athletic budget has DOUBLED in 6 years.
Add in hiring Rhoads, Hoiberg, locking up Bill Fennelly, even Chizik...he whiffed on the McDermott hire, but that's about all he has missed on in his time at Iowa State.
Add it large stadium renovations, a huge new videoboard, plans for a new football complex, and now Cyclone.tv. It's really great how far we've come in a short amount of time.
Great job Cyclone fans and great job Jamie Pollard.

Give the man a lifetime guaranteed contract, he is the best thing to ever happen to Iowa State.

Re: Jamie Pollard's Leadership as AD
He truly is one of the best ADs in the nation. We are very fortunate to have him. Great man on top of it all.

If you're into growth and success, he's not bad.

Re: Jamie Pollard's Leadership as AD
Impressive what he has accomplished. Geoffroy made it possible, and Pollard made it happen. I love that the Pollard haters have slunk away in the night.
Who was the guy who used to call him the "little number cruncher" or something like that? He always had an agenda.

This!
The fans have stepped up when Jamie made the call and he had a president backing him. I hope it continues. ISU needs to do whatever they can to keep Pollard around!

Re: Jamie Pollard's Leadership as AD
We went from an AD who had some short term success but didn't build upon it (no new facilities, no budget increase, etc.) to an AD who has success, increased the budget, numerous building improvements and new facilites, and best of all Cyclone athletics excitement is probably at an all time high!
“I told you, I don’t care if you’re black or white. I don’t care if you’re rich or poor. I don’t care where you come from, whether it’s Texas, Florida, California, or right here in the state of Iowa, I don’t care about any of that… But what I did care about is moving forward from that day on, that we were one team." -Paul Rhoads -

I remember everyone getting riled up at having increased ticket prices and "season ticket holders only" attendance proposals. I also remember my roommate (being from Wisky) saying that Pollard had a bunch of crazy ideas, but they were crazy ideas that worked. How right he was...
It's been a long haul to get us even to where we are today, but the ride has been fun and great things are yet to come.
When will JP get a statue in front of the AD offices?

Re: Jamie Pollard's Leadership as AD
I remember when he first started telling the fans to put up or shut up and how riled up many of the old time fans were. I also remember how ****** off season ticket holders were to lose their birth right premium seating arrangements. JP ticked a lot of people off to get things done but he got them done.
Not a bash post at all. I like JP both personally and professionally. Just pointing out how many people singing his praises now are the ones who had torches and pitch forks not that long ago...
