In areas like campustown where you're building in high percent student areas, you have to take alcohol into account, which makes balconies at upper levels a big risk.

Please be respectful of the victim. It's not like he asked to fall off a balcony. He was a really good dude.

Re: Is this the last VEISHEA?
Sad, I lost one of my college buddies around this time of year 5 years ago. Thoughts are with his family and friends.

Re: Is this the last VEISHEA?
Too many good things tied to veishea to end it now. Knee jerk reactions will cause an uproar today. Sorry to hear about 'the dude'.

Re: Is this the last VEISHEA?
To start, I pray for the best for this young mans family. That being said, one death won't end Veisha. We've seen this before. Discussion may come up, but it won't end. Now, if 5 kids happen to die tonight, I could see a strong possibility of Veisha being canceled for a few years.

It was dead, and really wasn't immediately certain it would come back.
I'd say NO VEISHEA was closer to killing it than just going "dry."

Re: Is this the last VEISHEA?
Hate to see this. Prayers go out to the guy and his family.
I hope this doesn't cancel VEISHEA. When I was out last night it seemed like the out of towners were the dumbshits (not saying this guy was one of those people acting dumb). I saw one guy smoking on the moonlight express. A couple of people fighting outside of Jeffs, I knew they were non ISU students when they said they were staying with friends. It would really suck if people who went to visiting colleges made VEISHEA get canceled.

Re: Is this the last VEISHEA?
VEISHEA won't be canceled, and it shouldn't be.

Re: Is this the last VEISHEA?
Pardon my potential ignorance, but what would shutting down VEISHEA do to curb the drinking? It has nothing to do with drinking, and everybody knows it happens around this time of year. Student would still party it up.

2005 was proof of that.

Re: Is this the last VEISHEA?
Have a good friend inside the Ames police force...and I think we've seen the last of Veishea.

Re: Is this the last VEISHEA?
You can't curb the drinking because it's a part of the "college" culture. People are going to make poor decisions no matter what. If people were more mature and looked out for each other, things like this could be prevented.
