Father Everett Hemann (Priest at St. Thomas in Ames from 1993-2009)
It is with great sadness that I reach out to Cyclone Nation of the death of Father Everett Hemann at 7:50pm on April 24, 2012. Father Ev spent many years at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and the Iowa State Catholic Student Center. He is an inspirational and influential person who affected many lives in positive manners. I have no doubt that many people on this board, have been affected positively, directly or indirectly by Father Ev. Funeral information, as well as memorials have not yet been announced. Sorry to hear that. 94-00, remember them saying that they had 3 priests, one like your brother, one like your father, one like your grandfather...Hemann being the father.

He was from my hometown area, and would come back and give occasional sermons when I was growing up. Seemed like a good guy, excellent speaker, and passionate about what he did.

I guess the only thing I have to say is thanks Fr. and see ya later. Great guy who was great at what he did, and most importantly, had fun doing so.

Great man. Great priest. He did an excellent job of talking to people without preaching down to them, and was a huge part of my faith formation. I'm glad for his sake that his suffering has ended, but he will be greatly missed by those that had the opportunity to know him. Thanks for everything Rev Ev!

Supple were big parts of my growth, both religiously and personally, while at ISU ('92-'97).
RIP Rev Ev

Requiem aeternam dona ei Domine; et lux perpetua luceat ei. Requiescat in pace. Amen
While I attended St. Cecilia's while living in Ames, I got to know Fr. Ev while serving on the Deanery council together. He and I had many great discussions on matters of faith and I will always cherish him and his infectious smile.

Fr Ev married us 15 years ago in July, what a wonderful man. We moved away from Ames for awhile and always made a point to attend St Thomas when we were in town. He always remembered our names and where we were living. We ended up back in Ames about 4 years ago and he was still here for a couple of those years. We had the opportunity to attend a reception for him last year celebrating his years of service. Even though he was sick and weak, he greeted everyone there. He will long be remembered.

I remember coming here for a visit and my mom wanted us to go to mass the night before. (Campus visit was a Monday) He came over and greeted us right away and told me that I would love being a Cyclone. This is sad news to hear.
