Interesting thread in which to make your first post. Welcome. Sorry it had to be associated with a campustown business closing.

People can say, it won't work, look at Legends. That place didn't work because of the customer service, urine smelling elevator, management, etc. I think a 5 guys-ish place in campustown that would serve beer could do great business. It could look similar to Brothers in the ped mall in IA City.

Maybe a second location for ZombieBurger?

But Texas Roadhouse and Buffalo Wild Wings have something few business have: name recognition. If you stuck Wallaby's in campus town it wouldn't be nearly as profitable. Wallaby's would have to slash their prices on drinks because the cheaper alternatives are immediately available. Same story with Olde Main. Great food, great drinks, but would be an awful fit in Campustown. You have to have a cheap business that operates at a low profit margin. Subway gets away with it because they have name recognition. Same with Jimmy Johns. Pizza places can operate on a super slim profit margin because pizza is dirt cheap to make.

Was there today... not a lot of stuff left,
They are asking 2.9 million for the building

Would have really sucked for me when I was a student if it had closed. For art and design supplies there's always an advantage for real retail vs. online because often you need to see and feel it in person and often you need it the same day. Even with both book stores I'd end up going to Des Moines once in a while for something.
I actually hate that place for my design supplies, they suck at cutting anything and when I bought matte board at another place they refused to cut it (even though they charge for it) I can take paper from anywhere to the book store and have it cut (they still charge).

Plus the supplies there are not much cheaper than the MU bookstore.
