If she finishes 4th, and one of the top 3 doesn't have an A standard time, then she will advance.
.......... I think. They just said she did qualify...freaking weird qualification system

In this case, you can't get lucky in 1 race of the year when somebody better is having an "off" day. This way you really do get the top 3 in each event.

She qualified. She will be running in London.

Re: Watching Lisa Koll-Uhl Friday Night
Awesome interview. She is a great ambassador for Iowa State.

Re: Watching Lisa Koll-Uhl Friday Night
Top three make the team if they have ran under the Olympic qualifying time. Koll and three others in the field have ran a qualifying time. Could possibly finish out of the top three and still make the team .

Just channel flipped over and caught the last half dozen laps. Good to have our ISU gal make the Olympics. I think she was pretty happy based on her interview. -
Re: Watching Lisa Koll-Uhl Friday Night
Congrats Lisa! and congrats to Meaghan Nelson as well, coming in a respectable 12th.

Re: Watching Lisa Koll-Uhl Friday Night
4 runners in this race already had qualifying time. 1 of the 4 already made it for the marathon, but ran in this race even though she decided already she would focus on that and not run the 10,000 at the Olympics. So the remaining 3 would definitely make the team as long as no one else ran a qualifying time in this race, and as long as they finished (regardless of place). That made it kind of interesting strategically.
It was apparent about half way through that no one new would get a qualifying time, at their pace then, so basically all the 3 had to do at that point was simply finish the race.
Congratulations Lisa! Best of luck in the 5,000 and in London!
