I thought so, but re-reading that Register article and the part I quoted up above, it isn't clear. It seems implied that she does, but nothing for sure from reading that.
With 8 in that race who have the qualifying time, though, it seems more likely the top 3 finishers in that race will go.
Re: Watching Lisa Koll-Uhl Friday Night
It sounds like Lisa's teammate Flanagan went to the front to slow the pace while Lisa tied her shoe and caught up. If that is how it went down that is really cool!

She may have done the most BA act in the history of sports. She qualified for the Olympics even though she stopped in the middle of the race to tie her shoe!

Yeah, that was unreal.
I watched the whole thing, and Lisa was in 3rd place, and the next minute I looked up she was in dead last by about 20-30 meters. I thought to myself... "oh no, she must have gotten injured".... only to find out at the end that she had to stop to tie her shoe. Unreal.
The pace that those runners are going at is unbelievable. It doesn't look like it on TV, but find yourself a treadmill sometime and turn it up to around 12 mph or so and then you will know just how fast they are really going.
To make up that much distance is just amazing that she still had anything left to finish that race. She probably had to crank it up to 14-15 mph for a while just to get back in it.
Anyone else notice her little vomit moment right on TV too... that was awesome! It looked like she was just going to spit, but a LOT more than a spit came out. She gutted that one out for sure! Way to go Lisa!

Double knot your shoes, for crying out loud.

Yeah, there's really no excuse for this happening. This is for a chance to go to the Olympics. Triple knot them and cut off any excess strings so nobody can step on them or anything.
Would be interested to hear how this happened? I run a lot of 5k races, and I've never had my shoes come untied. I knot them up pretty good and there's no way the laces could ever reach the ground for someone to step on either.
Re: Watching Lisa Koll-Uhl Friday Night
I am so proud of both women. I can't wait to see their careers blossom.
As far as the shoe laces, all they need to do is to tie a single knot and then tuck the two bows under one of the crossing laces. A famous marathoner taught me that trick; it works every time. It is also very easy to untie.

Way to go Lisa!!! Impressive beyond words. Congratulations & Go Cyclones!!!
