ISU checks in at...#407? Yikes. I realize ISU isn't an ivy league school by any means and that these types of lists are very subjective, but I was still expecting a better ranking that that. The fact that Simpson College is a few spots ahead of us makes me question this list...it would be interesting to see their criteria.

By US news and world report, we are always ranked top 50 for public universities.

I would imagine our graduates' astronomical debt played into that low ranking. A few years ago Iowa State grads had the highest average debt of alumni from any college or university in the nation.

Wow, UNI comes in at #582 on this list, ouch. Anybody know where UI comes in at?

Forbes has roughly the same amount of credibility as Bleacher Report does.
Any publication that proudly proclaims Kevin McHale (2007 with the Timberwolves)as the best General Manager in all of the Big 4 sports, clearly has their collective head up their butt.

ISU does. But a great deal of those top-notch academic resources are reserved for graduate students, and those faculty members with national reputations spend very little of their time with students, especially undergrads. Smaller schools like Simpson, while not as fancifully equipped as big research universities, do have excellent technology and resources for certain programs, which are almost entirely for use by undergrads. And their top faculty are there primarily to teach, not spend all of their time trying to get published.Quote:
