Obama's Visit
Just walked to campus at 730. Pretty neat site. Ames PD every 50 feet or so, security being prepped for entrance. Big machines and buses blocking lots of space. Line of a hundred or more on Morrill drive. Pretty cool event, regardless of party. Wish these things happened when I was in school.

I'll show up to an event when they manage to get Metallica to play on central campus

Re: Obama's Visit
Wife and I are about to head over there. Not all that excited to stand there for an hour to get in and then 2.5 hours before he talks but we think it's worth it to actually be able to see him compared to standing god knows how far away and just see some black guy on a stage.

Re: Obama's Visit
I will be on campus soon and will have to check this out! I would like to see Obama speak too but I didn't care to wait a long time to get a ticket. Here's to hoping there is a way I can walk up when the time comes (not holding my breath on it)
“I told you, I don’t care if you’re black or white. I don’t care if you’re rich or poor. I don’t care where you come from, whether it’s Texas, Florida, California, or right here in the state of Iowa, I don’t care about any of that… But what I did care about is moving forward from that day on, that we were one team." -Paul Rhoads -

Re: Obama's Visit
Wow.....crazy to hear all the happenings. My brother had to ask secret service permission just to get to his bike.
I'm glad I saw him speak on central campus when he was a candidate and we could just lay out on the lawn with no tickets....very laid back compared to now.

If anyone could post pictures too of how things are set up, that would be cool.

Yes, I remember going too. It was still a zoo because there was SO many people that showed up, but the preparations were nothing like what it sounds like today.

Well its a good thing kids don't go to classes these days! “They're very, very hard to guard,” Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey said. “They're really good. And with Niang in the middle kind of wheeling and all those guys spreading you out, they're kind of a nightmare matchup. And they're men. They're really men.”
