So you can watch live events on the Ipad? I have the official Iowa State App... but have not seen live events... If so I may just be buying a apple TV and bingo!

As of right now, there are no forms of boxes (blu ray players, PS3, Roku, Boxee...etc) outside of the XBox360 that have some type of app that allows ESPN3 to run through them. The reason why XBox360 is the lone exception is because the it requires a monthly subscription to be online, called XBox live. Therefore, ESPN3 is getting a constant small cut now of that small monthly fee. None of the other forms of boxes require this constant stream of money for ESPN to get a cut off of, so therefore they don't allow it.
Now, as for the future of a Cyclones.tv app on one of the forms of "boxes" in the future (nothing has it now), it is absolutely possible, but would require another big step of Cyclones.tv to get something like that done. Cyclones.tv would essentially have to go to the maker of all these differnt "boxes", or a few of them, and create a contract that allows them to be an app option on there. For all the different "box" options out there, Cyclones.tv would have their hands full. It is easy for somethign like MLB.tv to get set up contracts with multiple different ones where there are thousands upon thousands of people wanting that app. However, for Cyclones.tv, each box might only have a few hundred people using the app. Not sure if that is worth it to them. Again, it would be a big step by Cyclones.tv to pull this off.

Re: Cyclones.tv on your tv?
I have an HDTV, but does not have an HDMI input (a bit older TV). I've hooked up my laptop using VGA cable and sound input adapter, but is there an easier way? For example, I just got a new Roku that has only HDMI output, and I'm trying to figure a way to get it all to work together.

Two other AppleTV streaming options if you don't have an iPad...
If you have a newer Mac and Mountain Lion, you can share your screen on your AppleTV. This works well.
Another option is a program called AirParrot. It lets you share your Mac OR Windows PC screen on your AppleTV. I used this before Mountain Lion and it works well:AirParrot - AirPlay your Mac or PC's screen to AppleTV -

Just to be clear, you still need a Cyclones.TV subscription to watch live events. When you select a live event on the iPad it will ask for your login/password. I played around with Airplay to an Apple TV during one of the volleyball matches and it seemed to work OK.

Re: Cyclones.tv on your tv?
iPad plus apple tv usually works well, but if your wifi is suspect at all, you'll be better off with a wired Internet and a laptop with hdmi cable. Have a backup plan.

Another option is a computer that is wi-di compatible with a wi-di adapter. I have it and it works flawlessly. How to Connect Laptop to TV with Intel® Wireless Display (WiDi) -
