    Re: Favorite Cyclone Memory

The Tulsa game this year. I hadn't been to a game since we had beat Missouri in 2001 or 2002? This was the first game I had ever attended with my wife, also along was my step-daughter. Had seats in the SEZ. Was cool to see the boys put a beat down on the Golden Hurricane. But Ok State has got to be the best, along with the last 2 yrs of CPR kicking Tubberville's ***.

    Re: Favorite Cyclone Memory

Several of mine have been mentioned, but I'll add this one.

9/12/1998: Graduated in December of 97 from ISU and moved to IC to start my job in January 98. My wife and I lived in a duplex just south of Kinnick in an area with a lot of students. We got tickets to the football game with some other Cyclone fans in that area, but before we left for the game we hung a big cyclone flag in the front picture window. Proceeded to the game; witnessed us block the 1st possesion EIU punt, and remember thinking we were going to change the series around. Also remember hustling out of the stadium to get home to make sure our picture window didn't have a rock through it.

I still remember the Nebraska game in 1992. I was only 9, but remember being so excited to read the Omaha World Herald the next day. I don't remember anything about the game (I mean, I've read about it since, but no memories of watching) just running to get the paper in the morning.

1984 Iowa-Iowa State men's basketball game at Hilton. Since the Administration would not open the dorms a day early for the second semester, had to drive over for the game, back home and come back again the next day. It was worth it, though as the Cyclones won in double overtime 76-72. After 2 overtimes, I remember feeling exhausted/thrilled when it was finally over. If memory serves, Terrence Allen had a great game. With all the talk of Hilton Magic starting with the Barry Stevens/MO game, I think this game against the Hawkeyes played a role as well.

The Colorado tornado game was pretty damn cool..... we sat there on the top of the NW hillside and watched the tornado(first and only one I've ever seen one)... ended up winning. It would be a tie between that and the Okie state game I had tickets on the 40yardline about halfway up the bottom tear on the home team side. Best seats I've had to date. Also the Tulsa game was special because it was our first game in season tickets seats. I hope to have many more great sport moments at the Jack.

I was there too, but I am a bit older. If I remember correctly, it was the second biggest upset in college football history at the time. Nebraska was favored by something crazy, maybe 30 points.

    Re: Favorite Cyclone Memory

Since I've only been a Cyclone fan for 4 years I can only say the Oklahoma State game. My other favorite memory was when we won the Insight Bowl my freshman year. My family and I went to Disney World for New Years (don't ever do that) and we were all wearing our ISU gear. We had people all week tell us good luck and congrats on the win. Hope to have even better memories in years to come!

    Re: Favorite Cyclone Memory

In person, Oklahoma State obviously. We only got tickets because friends of ours couldn't make it. It was on a Friday, the wife would have to take a day of work off (we all lived in Nebraska at the time), plus the wife had a practice for her community orchestra early Saturday, and she'd already missed a practice to come to the Iowa game....yada yada. The husband actually bought a hillside ticket for the game, and we had room where we were sitting, so he was able to join us. The only time I've willingly sang "Sweet Caroline".

I was also at the Colorado tornado game. I was torn in staying outside to watch, or to take shelter in Hilton. I was with some people that weren't so keen on staying out, so I went. I do remember the band had already made their way to the stadium, so when the warning went off, as they were heading back through the lot, they're chanting "The band is seeking shelter....the band is seeking shelter..."

The other three memories are from television/radio. In '98, my husband had to be into work at noon. I was driving him there, and suddenly realized that the Iowa/Iowa State game had already kicked off. We turned on the radio, and I remember we were at the light at 72nd and Cass in Omaha, and we heard that Iowa State was already ahead. My husband turns to me and whines "I don't wanna go to work!" I sympathized, but we were less than a month married, so we needed the money.

Insight Bowl - JaMaine Billups runs the punt back for a touchdown. He graduated from Omaha Central, as did my husband. We were house sitting for my in-laws, and I just remember my husband hopping up and down the upstairs hallway after that happened.

"The Run" - We were at a friend's apartment watching the game. Seneca starts scrambling, and I remember saying out loud "You're going the wrong way!" I remember all of us yelling when Wagner put that block on the Tech player.

Here's hoping for some bigger and better memories.

    Re: Favorite Cyclone Memory

My personal favorite memory was the UT game in Austin in '10. It was our first road game since moving to Texas and back into Big XII country and the first college game ever for my 11 year-old daughter. I wanted her to experience a college campus on gameday, and to experience UT's campus knowing that it could possibly be a school choice at some point for her. It had been recommended that we get endzone seats so that we could see the "incredibly impressive scoreboard" (which pales in comparison to JTS now). We sat in a sea of dirty orange. Many of the UT fans around us grew more and more foul throughout the game. My 11 year old was mortified. But fortunately there were other UT fans who ultimately asked the foul-mouthed ones to shut up. By the middle of the 4th quarter I was a wreck as UT had started to mount a bit of a comeback. I stood the entire 4th quarter gut-wrenched and rocking from side-to-side, "we were going to do this!". As the game ended we were stunned. The decent UT fans came up and congratulated us as they filed out of the stadium. We stood and shook hands w/ the ISU players and coaches as they exited the field.

There were a couple of amazing takeaways from that day. For me, THAT was the day that ISU football under CPR had turned the corner. Until this point, as an ISU football fan I had a certain ambivalence going into each game. But no more, as I now expect us to compete equally for the win. For my 11 year-old, THAT was the day that she determined she hated the Longhorns and would never attend UT no matter what (she has since determined that she's attending ISU, no matter what).

    Re: Favorite Cyclone Memory

I really think that I have yet to see my favorite Cyclone memory. I have been a Clone fan for a pretty long time. I've lived through the God awful days of Duncan, Criner, and Walden. But I have gotten to enjoy the times of Johnny Orr ( WHOOOWEEE Man). Even Jim Gibbons who led us to a national title in wrestling. Under CPR things are different. It is a vibe of anything is possible. Let's no forget about Freddy, man am I pumped for the coming b-ball season. So sit down, strap in, and hold on Clone fans. The best is yet to come

    Re: Favorite Cyclone Memory

    1) June 1995 at ISU Basketball Camp. I had a chest pass shot that looked like a knuckleball going towards the hoop. Tim Floyd showed up to talk to all the kids and during the afternoon session, he pulled me aside and worked with me one on one for an hour learning a better form. I still suck at basketball but I don't shoot like a little girl anymore.

    2) Playing golf with Johnny Orr...Definitely a different character on the golf course than he is in the public eye. He had the best stories and has unbelievable comedic timing with his jokes
