The Run. It happened right in front of our seats at the time. I was one of the many people wondering what he was doing.

Re: Favorite Cyclone Memory
Probably not my all time favorite but last year's football game against Iowa was awesome...great game that ISU won, on my birthday (great birthday gift btw...thanks Cyclones) and my bachelor party. All around amazing day

Re: Favorite Cyclone Memory
Many of my favorite memories have been posted (ie witnessing "the run" live). So I'd have to say its a combination of two ISU things: (1) Studying abroad in Italy and (2) football. While in Rome, we befriended the bartenders of a local Irish pub. During fall Saturday nights after hours (Rome time) they would pull up the ISU games on satellite. We would have the whole place to ourselves! The beer kept flowing. After the game we would stumble out into the bright Italian sun.

Re: Favorite Cyclone Memory
One of my favorite memories is a little more sentimental to me. Back in 2000 both the men's and women's basketball were the Big XII tournament champions, and there were having a pep rally in Ames the next day to celebrate. So my Dad took my brother and myself, where we cut class, and we made the trip to central Iowa. It was my first time in Hilton Coliseum in which we a got a photo with the championship trophies in front of Hilton, and we got autographs of the majority of the men's basketball (the line to Marcus Fizer was a little too long). Looking back another reason why that moment is special to me is because I my dad passed away the following month.
Do you know why I put up with this 'pitiful job', Mr. Donaghy, why I fetch these folks' lunches and clean up their barfs? Cause they make television. And more then jazz, or musical theater, or morbid obesity, television is the true American artform. -
Re: Favorite Cyclone Memory
For me:
FB - The Marv Seiler game - one of the first games I attended.
BB - Fred Hoiberg single handedly beating KU in Hilton.
Worst moment for me personally:
99 (I think that's the year) when we beat Iowa for the first time in forever. Great moment but it was my senior year and I had tickets. I got sick the day before and decided to stay in Ames. It was a great moment but a little sad standing by myself in the living room (all my friends went) knowing I should have been there.

Re: Favorite Cyclone Memory
Thought about starting a thread like this over the summer but figured everyone would say the Oklahoma State game from last year.

Re: Favorite Cyclone Memory
I don't think I've ever gone to an Iowa state football game and not had a great day/time. My first one was in '98 and I've had season tickets the past few years and gone to two road games @Mizz last year and @Iowa this year. Every time I have truly had some of the best times and memories of my life and I can hardly choose a favorite. That doesn't even include all the games that I used to listen to on the radio with my dad or watch on tv when the cyclones were on.
I was at the OK state game and really enjoyed the win, but its tough to beat the '02, '05 and '11 victories over Iowa for me. I almost have a feeling that this year there will be even better memories. 2012 could be a special season.

Nov 18 2011
My girlfriend broke up with me that day and the last thing she said before leaving was have fun losing tonight (hok fan). I took a few shots, went tailgating, and the rest, as they say, is history.
It was still the best day of my life!

Similarly, mine was the one game my father attended during my time at ISU. In 1980, my mom had passed away a few months earlier, I persuaded my dad to get out of the house and fly in for the game with Ok that year. First half ended 7-7 I seem to remember, but then Ok blew it open in the 2nd half and won 42-7. Lousy ending and it was wicked cold that day, but we had a great time.

Re: Favorite Cyclone Memory
Basketball: 1.) In middle school, Getting chosen by Paul Shirley to try to make a lay-up (barely), free-throw (swish), and 3 (rattled-out) to win a bike. Sadly, no bike, but I also got my shirt signed by the players of the 2002 team. (Which is where I made my first bone-headed comment to a player...but...I'll skip telling that story.)
2.) My dad getting picked to shoot free-throws to win something (in like 1996?) my dad made the first one, then failed the last 2. I remember that being the first time ever seeing a player in person and THAT close
3.) Dad and I got 2 free tickets to the Tech Game at home last year and got to see that royce bounce between the legs and dunk...first time my dad and I have ever gone "ohhhhhhh" and acted like we were in the hood together (but to be fair, everyone around us reacted similarly)...awkward and awesome
3a.) When mom worked for an insurance company in Ames she got to meet Fred Hoiberg and got him to sign an Iowa State basketball for me.
Football:
1a.) Getting to meet CPR with my dad at the CF party last year.
1. Oklahoma St. Game - First time I've ever had non-student season tickets...I just remember having that "hunch" that something special was about to happen. Just being there seeing everything and not processing what was happening till the next to final play (which I then began sliding down the hillside to get ready to rush) and being on the field for that and everything that transpired afterwards...yes.
2. Iowa-Iowa St. Game (2011) - Again, first year ever buying non-student season tickets. Sitting with a friend at the hillside, losing several years off my life, to hear JTS at some of it's loudest ever. Then feeling the effects of humidity and body heat and hot weather all making me wish I had water and then getting some from the 5 gallon buckets they still had on the field.
3. The Run - Sitting in the SEZ bleachers with my parents, watching everything transpiring right in front. From that moment of going "What are you doing?!" to "get rid of it, GET RID OF IT!" to "...ohhh GO GO!" to "OHHHHH" (wagner block) to craziness in the stands after the TD...was quite the experience.
3a. - UNI vs. ISU (2011) sitting in the middle of the southwest hillside with panther fans around me, a friend and 2 female friends. And watching as they went from defiant, to arrogant, to obnoxious, to taking off their panther sweatshirts to show hawkeye shirts then muttering "we'll beat you next week".
4 - Living in the armpit of hawkeye country and Having a principle who was a hawk fan but his wife was an alum, so we always had a friendly rivalry. Beating the hawks every year while in middle school was always quite fun. (When else do you get to make fun of/jokingly insult the principle of your school and get away with it?)
