It's the bye week and I couldn't be more excited for the game next weekend. Been thinking of how many years ISU spent deep in the cellar of the Big XII and how I have really relished the past few years of moderate success. We have become a much more competitive team, especially in football and basketball. What are your favorite Cyclone athletic memories that you were present for?
Personally, I have been a Cyclone fan for all 22 years of my life. My first Cyclone memory though was the 1996 Big 8 tournament championship game against KU. Dedric Willoughby sinks two free throws late to go up 1. Jacque Vaughn misses at the buzzer and ISU wins. Never forget it.

“They're very, very hard to guard,” Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey said. “They're really good. And with Niang in the middle kind of wheeling and all those guys spreading you out, they're kind of a nightmare matchup. And they're men. They're really men.”
Nov 1976 vs Nebraska. Luther Blue returns a kick off 95-yards to blunt a Nebraska comeback as Cyclones beat the Bugg Eaters for the first time in something like 20-years. Goal Posts are torn down and dumped in Lake Laverne.

One of the best non-game memories. At Lynn Dickey's in KC for Big 8 men's hoops tourney. I was with my boss and we met the OU SID and his assistant there for dinner and drinks. They also brought Billy Tubbs with them. I was a SID student assistant at ISU at the time. Tubbs was very nice, talkative, and even bought a few drinks. A girl in an OSU shirt came over to our table and said, "Aren't you Billy Tubbs", to Tubbs. He replied Yes. She continued, 'I think you are the biggest *******, mother****er, blah, blah. We couldn't believe it. He sat there all calm and cool. He replied, "You know, someone told me that the ugliest ******* ***** in the bar was gonna talk to me tonight, but I didn't believe them until now." Hilarious.
Back on topic, just some of mine

final Big 8 tourney vs KU for the champ. 1st game my then girlfriend, now wife ever watched with me. She thought I was nuts.
Not only was my daughter (1st child) born at 5:25 pm, respectfully before kickoff, but then I got to watch ISU beat Okie state with my wife and daughter sleeping soundly from the vinyl pullout sofa.
Getting in line at the Des Moines airport for an ISU Alumni sponsored flight to El Paso for the 1971 Sun Bowl. (The now ex-wife and I are near the center of the photo) The Sun Bowl was Iowa State's first ever bowl game and the Cyclone fans were ecstatic. We had Johnny Majors and a bunch of great players. Things were looking up for the Cyclones:

Was it the 18th or 19th? I'm guessing Cyco wouldn't forget.
That would be #1 for me too. Although, the Colorado game a few years ago when the tornado sirens went off would be a close second. Not really a great win but it was just a really fun night.
Everything that happened in KC in March of 2000. Men's and Women's teams both won it. Total takeover of KC by ISU fans.
2000 was a great year in general. Wrestling team made a run at nationals. And then the football team with the first bowl game since '78 to close the year.

Mine was the massive hangover the day after. Sitting on the couch and watching the woody TD shown over and over again.
