Re: Role of CycloneFanatic in ISU's recent success?
The biggest reason our attendance increased during the Chizik era, when we sucked, had to do with tailgating, and the overwhelming number of people who graduated after 2002 who found employment in the Des Moines area.
It took another massive increase due to the excitement Rhoads has built. The people talking about attendance for basketball with McDermott are idiots. Basketball attendance under McDermott was bad, and bad is only slightly better than the product that was on the floor.
If we're going to credit CF for building the fanbase, you might as well start crediting my bowel movements. This thread is a ridiculous exercise in ascribing way too much importance to people dicking around on the internet.

I also stand by my statement about it helping unite the fan base. I just checked and Cyclone fanatic has over 15,000 members. That doesn't include the people who come here just to read and never set up an account. I say that is more than a small portion of the fan base. This has become the hub for Cyclone fans. Anytime you can unite a people in a cause you are going to cause change whether for better or worse. That is what I believe Cyclonefanatic has done more than anything.
Also, I've been around here longer than you Flag guy. When I joined you couldn't even see the forums without becoming a member first and Jeremy was reporting (sorry dude) some dude name Kelly from Michigan as the next coach. Many active on here have been around longer (Angie almost from day 1). That is not helping your case. Uh oh. Sounds like Flagguy's e-cred is, pardon my e-pun, flagging.

Been too long since I joined to explain my plight in Hilton about the staff wanting to kick me out for that little tradition I started...
Guess I should have been on here more getting the message out to recruit a new generation of fans to do that wave when the flag goes by... after all, I'm sure that has to effect the outcome of games, right? Oh we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State, and may her colors ever fly!!! In Accordance with Prophecy -

Re: Role of CycloneFanatic in ISU's recent success?
I'm one of the few who still posts occasionally who was around at the beginning when Rob Jeter was gonna coach at ISU. I've seen the evolution of this site and I can say, without a doubt, that unequivocally CF has had no impact on the success of the Iowa State's athletic department. Has it united fans? Yes, but it's also divided fans too. All conversation that have occurred on here would've have occurred in the real world.
It's not like CPR got on here, saw that some jack-wagon wanted Tony Franklin as offensive coordinator and said **** yes. Simply put, no one important cares what myself or anyone thinks.
Side not: The evolution of this site has been pathetic.

My failed campaign to change Cyclone Alley stands as my life's biggest regret, and killed my belief in the power of the internet. Message boards are dead to me.

Which part? The Mod wars, the change from fun community to serious busines? or the take over of internet virgins whining about their personal problems in a public forum ripe for riddicule by fellow Cyclone fans and opponents alike? And ***Official Threads*** started for the express purposes of credits and CF street cred?
Edit: The Snowcraig saga does not fit the category of people whining about their personal problems. That was just damn funny

You better watch it brother.... that is a thought crime. And thought crime does not entail a perma-ban... thought crime IS perma-ban.
Now profess your love of Big Brother before MinLuv comes and takes away your account

Re: Role of CycloneFanatic in ISU's recent success?
Gonna close this thread guys. Not a very constructive one. But to set the record straight, nobody at CF believes that this site has anything to do with Iowa State's recent on the field/court success at all.
We just try to do what we do as best as we can and work hard to provide a free site for you all to enjoy. Like in any business, decisions are made that not everybody agrees with and that's fine. It's impossible to please everybody.
