Re: Pollard Radio Comments - 11/5/12
Can we put a tip jar at the gates for the SEZ project?

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't really ever see suites in Hilton. Reason is we have good enough attendance that we can simply raise ticket prices and still do well. Plus besides taking current seats to use for suites their really isn't room to expand.

This is what I was thinking. Suites would absolutely kill Hilton, imo.
Re: Pollard Radio Comments - 11/5/12
I think the list is currently SEZ and then expanded press box I think with those two additions we will have a great facility. Once those two things are done and we become a college football powerhouse we can add the third level to the stadium and increase capacity to 109,902 that way we have one more seat than Michigan.
Re: Pollard Radio Comments - 11/5/12
Do the SEZ project and touch up Jack Trice to polish it off and then Hilton gets some modernization/improvements. Or SEZ, touch up The Jack and new Volleyball facility?

The plan they had quite a few years ago was to turn the balcony stairwells around so they dumped directly into the outer concourse then to replace the inner concourse with suites. The parquet access would be direct corridors from the outer concourse. I think the plan entailed loss of little or no existing seating.

But then people couldn't leave early and stand there. :spinny:

A quick check through all past box scores back to 1975 reveals that there have been 10 games in November with attendance over 50,000. Most involve Nebraska.
They are (by attendance):
November 3, 2012 vs OKLAHOMA = 56,585
November 15, 1980 vs NEBRASKA = 52,942
November 3, 1984 vs NEBRASKA = 52,919
November 13, 1982 vs NEBRASKA = 52,887
November 18, 2011 vs OKLAHOMA STATE = 52,027
November 5, 2011 vs KANSAS = 51,575
November 6, 2010 vs NEBRASKA = 51,159
November 24, 2001 vs IOWA = 51,042
November 13, 1976 vs NEBRASKA = 50,781
November 5, 1988 vs NEBRASKA = 50,158
Thus ends the fallacy of only two games in November with > 50,000 in attendance.
Re: Pollard Radio Comments - 11/5/12
Here is my order:
SEZ
Press Box
More moderization of Hilton/JT (not even sure what)
Bring back Mens Soccer some how. (which would involve finding a cheap womens sport to bring back) Soccer is going to be even more huge in 10 years.
--We already have facilities for soccer and find a womens sport like Bowling or Rifle to equal it where we don't need any facilities.
Build a facility that houses 3-5K people for Wrestling, Volleyball etc...

We don't need to bring back a women's sport to bring back a men's sport.
And the Armory would be awesome to turn in a wrestling/vball/gymnastics venue like other schools have.

I have often been confused about what Title IX required:
Quote:
To the extent that a college or university provided athletic scholarships, it is required to provide reasonable opportunities for such awards to members of each sex in proportion to the participation rate of each sex in intercollegiate athletics. This does not require the same number of scholarships for men and women or individual scholarships of equal value.
However, the total amount of assistance awarded to men and women must be substantially proportionate to their participation rates in athletic programs. In other words, if 60 percent of an institution's intercollegiate athletes are male, the total amount of aid going to male athletes should be approximately 60 percent of the financial aid dollars the institution awards.

That would be cool, I could get behind that. How many seats do you think we could get in the armory? It would be a shame to sacrifice attendance numbers for wrestling/volleybay, even if the smaller venue would be a better environment.
